"Hey Rachel what do you think of the name Erin?" A very pregnant Quinn asked her girlfriend while they were laying in bed.
Rachel didn't look up from the book she was reading as she mumbled, "Sounds good."
"Ok, what about Sarah? It means princess and according to this book my name means queen so I thought it'd be cute." Quinn kept looking through the baby name book she'd bought when she decided to keep the little girl in her stomach. Again she got the same response from the girl next to her.
"Rachel, are you even listening?" Quinn asked pulling the book out of Rachel's hands.
"Yes I am you asked if I liked the names Erin and Sarah." Rachel said reaching for the book Quinn was now holding, but before she could grab it Quinn moved it out of her reach.
"Then why won't you give me real input?" Quinn was close to tears and Rachel sighed knowing she wouldn't be able to read until she explained.
"It's not my decision; it's your baby."
Tears slid down Quinn's beautiful face as she said, "I was hoping it could be our baby." She stood up and headed to the door, but Rachel was quicker than her.
"What do you mean?" They were now standing in the doorway with Quinn's hand on the door. She took her hand off the doorknob and placed it on her stomach absentmindedly.
"I thought you could adopt her and be her second mom." Rachel walked past Quinn to sit on the bed.
"Why?"
Quinn knew Rachel well enough to know she was surprised and not mad so she walked over to sit next to her and taking Rachel's hand in her own she explained, "When I first found out I was pregnant I would sit up late at night and think about who I wanted to be next to me when she kicked or who I wanted singing to her, but most of all I thought about who I wanted in the delivery room and long after when I raised her. Every time I thought about it with Puck and Finn it made me really nervous, but when it was you I would feel my heart warm and be peaceful."
"So you want me to raise her as if she was my own?" Rachel asked looking down at Quinn's bulging stomach.
"If you can I'd understand if you can't." Rachel looked up into Quinn's eyes and saw insecurity's that she rarely saw.
"I thought you'd never ask." Quinn smiled wildly and pulled Rachel into a short kiss. "And about names, I have a few ideas." Rachel began standing up.
"Of course you do." Quinn said with a laugh.
"But I really like Sarah." Rachel replied getting onto her knees so her face was level with the belly. "'Cause she'll be our little princess." Another tear fell from Quinn's face.
"Sarah it is. Now come on I'm tired." Rachel stood up and both girls climbed into bed. "Sing to us to sleep please." Quinn asked quietly. Rachel smiled softly as she cuddled into Quinn's side and started to sing a lullaby she'd heard her fathers sing when she was little. Quinn's last thought before sleep overcame her was that this is how it should be.
