I thought I'd publish this short story I entered into a competition. Unfortunately the next chapter of Trinity of the Shadow is taking a while but it will be longer than the previous chapters.
Disclaimer: I do not own the Elder Scrolls or Bethesda.
It was a fine sunny day in The Shivering Isles. Sheogorath the Daedric Prince of Madness gazed out into the bright multi-coloured horizon. His gaze began to focus on nearer landmarks such as the Sacellum Arden-Sul. The ageing, grey haired god sighed. He was bored. "Bored! How can I be bored? I'm the Daedric Prince of Madness and Cheese! I can't be bored can I?"
A balding middle-aged man approached him. He was dressed in upper class clothing with a large red collar. It was his right hand man Haskill. "I'm afraid this is quite out of character sire. Perhaps you should seek treatment."
Sheogorath gasped at the thought and quickly voiced his opinion on the matter, "Treatment? Pah! What good would that do? No doctor can treat boredom not even the insane ones!" Sheogorath thought about a recent encounter with the Dragonborn. It reminded him of Tamriel. Sheogorath unlike most Daedric Princes was once mortal. He was known as the Champion of Cyrodiil and replaced the previous Madgod by defeating his alter ego Jyggalag. "I've got it! I'll go to Tamriel! Plenty to do there. I can wind up mortals, ride unicorns and feast on the cheese of Borderwatch!"
Several hours had passed since Haskill had opened up the portal to Tamriel. Sheogorath entered the local inn and walked around enthusiastically, grinning from ear to ear. The Khajiit at the counter looked rather bemused. "Can I help you?" Purred the Innkeeper.
"Have you got any Olroy cheese?" Asked the Madgod.
"Unfortunately not." Was the reply.
"It was here last time I was here!"
"And when was that?"
"200 years ago!" And with that Sheogorath left Borderwatch before his eyes came to rest on an unusual creature. "A unicorn," shouted the Prince in delight.
3 hours later he was riding along the Red Ring road on his way to the Imperial City. His silver hair glistened with the sunlight's reflection, his new friend galloped at a quick and consistent pace. They turned and galloped along the large bridge before coming to a stop by the city gates. "Greetings good citizen." A tall muscular man clad in Imperial armour stood by the gates smiling.
Sheogorath laughed. "Ha! It's been a while since I last heard that," chuckled the Madgod. "Did I ever mention that you lot smell of kidneys? Oh I hate the smell of kidneys. They stink to High Hrothgar!" The guard raised an eyebrow before he turned and opened the gates.
The Madgod had a great day in Tamriel. He wound up mortals, rode a unicorn but failed to feast on the cheese of Borderwatch.
