Rewind through Katniss' life to see the premature endings.

haymitch.

After surviving for so long, Haymitch Abernathy was dead. His family-adopted family, yes, but still family mourned him.

Katniss cried, realizing how similar they really were. Hard survivors. Sarcastic, but loyal. Caring, surprisingly enough.

Peeta certainly didn't have the relationship that Katniss had with him, but felt for the loss, mainly because Katniss did.

It was drinking that killed him, they said, the poison was just too much for his body to handle.

It was really the sadness. He had lost too much.

madge.

Madge was killed quickly and thoughtlessly. The Peacekeepers stormed through her house that fateful night, and one shot her quickly through the head.

On cue, a firebomb blasted through the house, blowing up the grieving father.

She was the true girl on fire, the unmentioned hero, for without her, Katniss would've never had that pretty golden pin that lit a spark.

Madge's mother was upstairs. When she was found, the Peacekeepers put a bullet through her head. No pity, no mercy.

With that, the Undersees were dead.

end

rue.

"Here is the place where I love you," Sang Katniss, the mockingjays imitating her call.

The mockingjays.

Always little Rue's favorite bird, imitating her four-note whistle. Rue was always compared to a bird, with the way she leaned forward slightly on her toes, with her arms slightly extended. Looking like she was going hop right into flight.

She always wished she could fly, soaring away from District 11. Whirling through the sky and exhilarating speeds, singing whenever she pleased.

That was her favorite dream.

Now that dream is a reality.

end

mr. everdeen.

Boom!

The explosion rocked the walls and shook the floor, making Malcolm Everdeen fall to the floor.

The other workers trampled him, trying to get out.

"Thanks for helping me, guys," he muttered under his breath, leaping to his feet, heading for the exit.

He had to get out, for Katniss, Prim, and Helena, that was all that mattered.

But before he could even move, an even louder Boom!

end-

Stop.

Fast forward through Katniss' life to see a new beginning.

child.

It had been a hard fifteen years for Katniss and Peeta. Losing their family, Haymitch, and Delly had been a blow.

But now, new life was coming from the Mockingjay.

That was what always happened. Wherever she went, death followed. Now, she promised, that would never happen again.

She was still scared though. That was always her worst fear, loving someone and that individual dying.

She always promised herself she would never have children, for that reason alone.

Now she was breaking that promise.

"It's… coming." She gritted her teeth, speaking to Peeta.

"You'll be fine, honey," he squeezed her hand, "you'll be fine."

Hours later, she comes. A beautiful baby girl with her mother's jet-black hair, visible already, and her father's blue eyes.

As the sun rose, Katniss smiled.

"I think I'll name her Rue."
