Regret

Everyone has something that they regret. Don't deny it, even you do. It's normal for humans.

Even I...even I have some things- many things- that I regret. I wish that I had been able to...stop them somehow.

"If only I was quicker." I say, "If only I had done this or that. If only I hadn't done this or that."

If only, if only, if only! That word just keeps on popping up! It pisses me off!

I know that there's nothing I can do. It's impossible...trying will only cause more pain, more regret.

I miss them, all of the people I've failed. The ones I couldn't save...

Take recently, for example. I had just gotten married. Married to one of the two girls I loved. When I rang up the other girl, hoping to apologize...she never picked up. I found out later that she had cut her wrist, most likely in a suicide attempt because she loved me too much...

That's an example of "If only I hadn't done this".

One time I was friends with this family: A father, a daughter, and a dog. I came by one night and found that they daughter and the dog had been fused together into a beast. By the father. Later, the fusion of the dog and daughter was murdered. Here is an example of both "If only I had been quicker" and "If only I had done this".

There are numerous other things that I'd like to mention...but I can't name them all.

I'd just like to say one last thing. Life only flows in one direction. You must respect the laws of nature.

Then maybe you won't have much to regret.

Signed,

Edward Elric

Edward Elric finished his document and looked over to me. I nodded.

"It's done, Hayden." said Edward. "And I do feel better, just like you said."

I smiled at him. "It's the best way to relieve pain sometimes. Writing about it."

Edward smiled back. It was a sad smile. "I do still regret things, though."
