Jane Eyre

I hit the dark blood red carpet with a thud, the door slammed shut behind me and I heard the clink of a lock.

I had been locked up in this prison, this hell called the red room where my uncle Mr Reed had died.

My uncle that made my "Aunt" solemnly swear she would take care of me.

The room's title easily described its apearance, there was a dark blood red carpet and four bare red walls, the room was empty apart from a small wooden stall,a mirror and a old fireplace that gave off a eerie glow.

A shiver crept up my spine as I recalled what Miss Abbot had said to me "something bad might be permitted to come

down the chimney and fetch you away."

I never doubted that if Mr Reed was alive now he would still be kind to me but prehaps his spirit might be angry about the wrongs of his sister's child. I tried to calm down and wiped my tears away, afraid that if I made sound I may recieve a harsher punishment.

I looked at the mirror on the wall and stared back at my pale reflection ,sure I saw a ghostly figure behind me, I screamed loudly shocked at what I thought I had seen.

I heard the door unlock , Bessie and Abbort entered.

"Miss Eyre are you ill?" said Bessie. Bessie was one of the house maids who seemed she may be the only person here that may be concerned about me.

"What awful sound!" Abbot added

"Let me out please let me out of this awful place" I begged.

"Why? Are you hurt? Did you see something?" asked Bessie.

"I saw a figure I thought it was a ghost" I explained grabbing Bessie's hand and holding it tight, she did not scorn me for it and let my hand stay put.

"She did all of this on purpose, its all an act so you will feel sorry for her" declared Abbot.

"What is all this nonsense?"asked Mrs Reed as she came down the hall.

"Miss Jane screamed loudly ma'am" Bessie pleaded.

"Now Bessie you have no need to feel sympathy for that child, let her go and Jane you will stay here for an hour longer" Mrs Reed decleared.

And I was shoved back into the red room.
