AN: inspiration is as inspiration does. i just watched "forrest gump".
this is just a drabble, of what could have happened during the scene where zach said that the gallagher academy doesn't admit fools. because it had so much potential. third-person point of view :D
disclaimer: I obviously don't own GG.

"The Gallagher Academy doesn't admit fools." Infamous for cryptic statements, Zach Goode doesn't disappoint with his latest half-truth. In the midst of what could be thousands of people, his eyes were only focused on Cammie Morgan.
If it were any other day—and if she were any other girl—she would have left his stale words hanging in the air. Instead, she locked her gaze with his and said, "Do you really mean that?" Spy training taught her when to let certain things go and think of the big picture; he had taught her not to take no for an answer.
He sighed and tinges of his exasperation leaked into his words. "One of these days, Gallagher Girl, you're gonna find out that a lot of questions don't have answers." With a surprising show of affection, he tucked a stray strand of her hair behind her ear. "And I'd rather you not find out the hard way."
"I can take care of myself," she protested, taking a step away from him. "I don't need you showing up in places telling me to be careful." That was true, caution isn't a skill—it's a necessity.
"Didn't seem like it when we were on the train," he teased with his signature, good-natured smirk. "You looked like you were in trouble."
"I used to think that trouble follows me," she stated dryly, "but now I'm thinking that it's just you."
He laughed; the hearty, loud one that she used to like so much. "You would think that, Gallagher Girl."
She raised an eyebrow as if to doubt him. He was luring her off the subject, slowly but surely distracting her. "Tell me, Zach, why should I believe for one second that you're looking out for me if you just said I can't trust you." There, the one question she really had in mind was out in the clear blue open.
Now, he was uncomfortable—and it showed. While he could probably think of tons of vague responses and talk his way of this situation, it's what he didn't say that spoke the most. He cared, somehow. Some where along the way, he started to care.
"There's a lot of people I lie to," his voice was dropped to a whisper, "and you're just not one of them."
Her eyes turned icy. Any girl would have eaten his shocking reveal up. She knew better. "Then don't lie to me." Such a simple solution in a complicated world.
"Be careful," he repeated.
Ignoring his warning, she scanned the crowds to find Macey for a quick escape. "Are you going to show up near me again?" In the way she said it, it sounded like she just wanted a head's up. In the way she meant it, she just needed—for any reason at all—to see him again. She'd be ready.
Like all things in the spy universe, she should have anticipated his response and been prepared. But instead, she watched him point to himself with that know-all grin, and utter the line that she was starting to despise—
"Spy."
