For the first time in what felt like forever, Internet Explorer felt himself being opened. He had missed this, the feeling of being wanted, to be searched on, to help the human do his will. The human's will used to involve the usual sites; Club Penguin and Moshi Monsters to name a few. But then he was neglected, with only his popup ads to talk to. It was hell. The reason for this was the estimable Chrome. She was the browser everyone wanted to be. Even Firefox, who sat reading in the corner every day, had a niggling wish at the back of her software that if she could just be like Chrome, just have some of her style, then maybe she would get used by the human. But this was nothing compared to the opinions that Explorer had about Chrome. Why should she get all the attention?! Why should she get used by the human while Explorer sits unused for years? But yet, today when the human accidentally opened Explorer while Chrome was open too, he got a feeling deep inside. That feeling was a bizarre mixture; of contempt, strong jealousy and although he would never admit it, passion.
Chrome seemed to be happy, but she was really lonely inside. Yes, she got used every day by the human, but as a result all the other browsers the human had pointlessly installed ignored her. Chrome was the most popular browser there, but didn't have a friend in the world. And the things she'd seen! When Firefox had been the browser of choice for the human, she had been used for studious sites and homework, and the same for the unexplainable Internet Explorer who had been used in the human's youth for games and the like. But nowadays, all that she was really used for was streaming photos and videos of other humans doing unspeakable things to each other that she didn't really understand, and going on that ridiculous site Facebook, who always liked to tease her about the colours of her logo. To Chrome, even though she knew that her life could be so much worse, it seemed like her own personal brand of hell. Even the music that the human streamed tortured her like nothing else. This life went on for weeks, months, years even before anything new happened. Then one day, the human clicked somewhere that he hadn't for years – the Explorer logo. Chrome felt a jab of annoyance as Explorer whirred to life. Explorer seemed extremely surprised to be activated, and Chrome giggled internally at his expression. After about 5 minutes, Explorer was fully loaded. Chrome stared at him and observed his looks. For a browser that hadn't been used in years, he didn't look to bad at all. ''Oh hi, Chrome'', Explorer spat. She raised her eyebrows in surprise; no one had spoken like that to her before. This browser had guts... and she liked it.
