Captain Kathryn Janeway stumbled her way across the bridge to her chair. "Tom, what the hell is going on? This trip wasn't supposed to be quite this rocky."

"Unknown, Captain," Lt. Tom Paris replied from the conn. "All of our sensor readings said there was no interference in this wormhole. Some eddies appeared and we're being pushed around. I'm just trying to keep her steady."

"Captain, there seems to be some temporal interference within these eddies," Ensign Harry Kim interjected.

Janeway jerked her head in surprise. "Temporal? What do you mean?" she questioned.

"I'm not sure, ma'am, but these eddies are caused by some kind of rift in the time-space continuum."

"Great," Janeway muttered as heavy turbulence rocked the ship. "It never can be an easy way home, can it?" She quickly glanced toward her trusted Vulcan advisor, Tuvok, and in a loud voice called, "Mr. Tuvok, any suggestions?"

"Not at this time, Captain," said the steady Vulcan, seemingly unfazed by the jolting. "We just need to, as Lt. Paris would say, ride it out."

Janeway smirked and looked back toward the viewscreen. "Well, Tom, steady as she goes. I guess we'll find out what has happened when we get out. We planned on getting back to the Alpha Quadrant through this, and I intend to see that through."

After a few more tense moments of turbulence, Voyager escaped the wormhole and flew into open space. The viewscreen showed a lush, green planet in their vicinity.

"Harry, can you get a fix on our location?" Janeway asked.

Harry smiled broadly. "Captain, we are in the Alpha Quadrant, but we're still light years from the Sol System and Earth."

The captain clapped her hands together victoriously. "I'll take it, Harry. Let's stay here for a bit, do some quick repairs. All stations, report! Tom, set … "

"Wait, Captain!" Harry interrupted. "I'm getting a distress signal, but it's not on any known Federation frequency. It's coming from that planet."

Janeway's smooth brow furrowed. "Can we respond?"

"I don't see why not, ma'am," Harry said as an amazed look spread over his face. "The comm system is still operational, and I'm pretty sure the system's translator got knocked offline. This seems crazy, but I understand them completely. They are speaking human English."

"Patch them through," Janeway said, nodding toward the dark-haired ensign. "This is Captain Janeway of the Federation starship Voyager. Do you need assistance?"

A crackly voice sounded through the bridge. "Yes, this is Flight Lieutenant Jeff Moreau of the Normandy. We just crash landed on this planet. We need help with repairs and we want to get back to Earth."

Janeway smiled. "Well, Lt. Moreau, sounds like we are heading the same way. We'll send a team down ASAP."

Janeway looked around at her crew. "Have any of you ever heard of the Normandy?" Silence was her answer.

"Guys! We got a ship! We've got some help!" Lt. Moreau, better known as Joker, exclaimed over the ship's comm system. He leaned back in his seat, exhaustion and relief filling his features. Circling the chair around toward Major Kaidan Alenko, who had been standing at his side, Joker blew out a sigh, raising his eyebrows expectantly.

"I've never heard of a ship called Voyager before," said Kaidan. His tired eyes betrayed little more than a slight curiosity. "I wonder what race they are?"

"I don't know, but they have a woman captain. My money is on asari. Best day ever," Joker grinned.
