Disclaimer: I do not own Star Trek, or DS9. Of course I don't.

I promise you I am not a fan of Kira/Julian, but my sister made me like draw randomly different ships to do, and I chose this one. In about fifteen minutes you'll probably see more random FanFiction, because I'll be drawing another ship to do here in a minute.

I do like Star Trek, too. So I hope you like this!

Kira Nerys kicked the wall and stormed into her quarters. She was filled with a feeling of hopeless anger, the realization that this couldn't be solved. She and Shakaar had agreed to end it. She hadn't dumped him; he hadn't dumped her. When people agreed to end their relationship, it was over. It was completely over.

A sob escaped Kira, and she flung herself on her bed. Why had she agreed? Why hadn't she told her Shakaar that she didn't care what the prophecy had said? She always told him the truth, why had it been so hard this time?

Because she was Bajoran, that was why. Because she was supposed to believe the prophecies, to know that what they said was truth. Somehow, though, there was doubt inside her. She knew that prophecy didn't mean anything.

"Nerys?" the door was pushed open. Kira turned around to see Julian standing there.

Wiping her eyes, Kira stood up. "Yeah? I'll have the report ready by tomorrow."

"This isn't about the report," Julian said, stepping inside. "This is about Shakaar."

"He's already beamed away," Kira said, even though she knew that wasn't what he meant.

"Yes he has. But you didn't really believe that prophecy, did you?"

Kira stared up into Julian's eyes. There was a look of deep understanding in them.

Kira burst into tears and threw herself into Julian's arms. "No," she wailed. "It didn't mean anything."

Julian hugged Kira. "But you're Bajoran," he protested, though jokingly.

Kira smiled slightly. "Oh, shut up. You don't believe them either."

"But I'm not a Bajoran."

"Of course not, but-" Kira wiped her eyes "-I am, and all Bajorans know they're true."

Julian shrugged. "I could say that they just think they're true, but you'd probably kill me."

"You just did say that," Kira said. "But it's okay. You want to know a secret?"

"You don't believe any of those prophecies are true?" Julian suggested.

Kira smiled. "Yep. How could they be? I mean, prophecy? I thought everybody moved on from that in like the 2100s."

"Not Bajorans," Julian pointed out. "They're strong believers. I mean you're strong believers."

"I'm not," Kira whispered. "It's bullshit. All of it. That Shakaar and I weren't meant to be together is ridiculous."

Julian smiled, and hugged Kira again. Then, quietly, he said, "I don't know. It might be."

Kira looked up, and broke into a smile. "Julian-"

"I'm only saying," Julian said, putting his hands up in defeat.

But Kira shook her head. "No," she said happily. "You're right."

And with that she flung her arms around Julian.

I hope it wasn't too awkward. I didn't like it very much, either.

Linley :)
