Today the memories came back worse than before. I felt like screaming, as if that would ease the pain. But that would only result in people breaking down the door to my room in the end to see who was attempting to kill me. For some reason, that seemed like a simple solution to my problem.

But I could never do that myself. But I had to get out of the confines of my room. It didn't help that it was raining outside, but a little drizzle couldn't stop me. I ran until I reached the river before I plopped down under a tree. After pulling in my knees to my chin, I wrapped my arms around my head and began to rock myself. But for some reason I couldn't will myself to cry.

After a while of sitting there, I heard a faint whistling. I slowly raised my head and tried to find the source of the noise. To my surprise, I saw a mess of blond hair walking down the river. It shouldn't surprise me that Elijah would be out and about in the drizzle. He probably got caught in it while aimlessly walking, but decided to embrace the rain rather than run from it.

He seemed to spot me out of the corner of his eye. He also seemed startled by my presence. I lowered my eyes, feeling a weird tingly sensation all over my body that I registered as numbness. Within moments, I saw feet come into my view. I followed the feet up, past ripped jeans and a plain, light blue shirt. Blue eyes met blue eyes, though I can admit his looked different than usual.

They seemed colder, not the usual gleaming orbs I looked into, usually in search of a friend to talk to. They also seemed more calculating, as if he were weighing his out his options in his mind. He didn't seem like the usual Elijah I've come to befriend. A smile cracked onto his lips and he took a seat beside me. The smile made him look normal, but I could see that he was not acting like his usual self.

His arm found its way around me and I leaned instinctively onto his shoulder, like I had done so many times before. My thoughts were muddled; I couldn't really focus. He whispered something – maybe an "it's gonna be alright" – and pulled me closer. I could hear his heartbeat – thump, thump – ring through my ear. "…Ro? Are you listening?"

I moved my face across his shirt, trying to wipe the rain water from my eyes. I think I could feel his heart beat faster than before. My thoughts were in such disarray. I lifted my face to look into his eyes. I seemed to be searching for something in them, but I came up short. I didn't even know what I was searching for. My voice not even above a whisper, I said, "I'm so lost." He seemed perplexed at first, but I saw a ghost of a smile dance upon his face.

"It's alright… I found you."
