Purestrongpoem: I don't own Lord of the Rings' characters. Enjoy.

Freedom

Eowyn stood in front of the armour pondering whether to go to war or stay with the women and children. It was her dream to fight in the war, but she was always held back, forced to watch as her friends fought and died. It wasn't fair that she was barred from fighting because she was a woman. She wanted to fight. She wanted to be free and fly. Freedom had a price and she was willing to pay for it. She would die fighting for peace, justice, and her friends. She would die a free woman. It was better than aging and dying useless. She remembered telling Aragorn about her feelings, but he was unhelpful and she was still locked in a cage. She thought he would understand but he didn't. She remembered Merry being as excited to fight in war as she was. However, everyone including her uncle and brother laughed at the idea. They all thought the same thing. Women were weak and belonged in the homes. Hobbits were short and were like little children in war. They underestimated her and Merry every time. She knew how to fight well but she was never recruited in the army. She didn't know if Merry had the skills to fight. She sighed and took the armour from the stand. She had come to a decision. She would stay and fight. She knew that Merry wouldn't be accept but she would take him along and together they would fight for Rohan, Gondor and their friends.
