Chapter One: Not So Happy Birthday Part 1

The sun was fully over the horizon, making the ocean glistening with the morning sun's light as the residents of a beautiful costal city were waking and going about their early morning business. Adults going to work, either in office buildings or on one of the many fishing ships that were docked at the harbor, and children in school uniforms making their way to school.

In one home, the sun perfectly lit a quaint little two story home that stood alone near a cliff. This is where a young girl with fair medium length red hair and matching red eyes, fair healthy pail soft skin sat at the kitchen table, dressed and a red and white school uniform. Her pink lips glossy as she smiled at a little white creature that sat on the table, happily devouring a red fruit

"You're really hungry today aren't you Wiz." The red head giggled as her hand reached out and gently petting the rabbit like creature named Wiz.

"Kyuu~." Wiz purred out as he was falling asleep with her gentle petting, tilting his head into her fingers. The girl smiled as the creature fell asleep and flopped on the table, she gently cradle it in her hands before getting up to setting him on a red pillow shaped like a large strawberry on the living room couch.

Smiling at the sleeping creature the girl then grabbed a brown rectangular back pack that was leaning on the arm of the couch before slipping on some brown shoes over her white knee socks. Opening the door and stepping out into the sunny day happily. Closing the door she then walked up to a woman what was watering the flowers that were in front of the house.

"Mom, I'm going to school now." She said to the woman, who looked no older then 20, with light brown hair and eyes, dressed in a pink crop top and faded skinny jeans, it seemed unlikely this woman was her mother but they had the same flawless skin, eye shape, lips and soon the same figure as the young girl was just blossoming into woman hood. The woman smiled at the young girl watching her pass by with a bit of a spring in her step.

"Ok, Dai sweetie. He sure to be here at 4:57 and 27sec or you'll be in big trouble." The woman warned happily as the girl nodded before she turned her back to her. "Okay mom, got to go." The girl replied as she lightly walked down the street in the direction of her school, not noticing the knowing smile on the older woman's lips. "Even if he accepts your letter you can't go on a date tonight." She said smiling, as the girl stopped mid step and twirled around to face her with a red face.

"W-what makes you say that?" she stuttered with blush matching her hair, eye wide with surprise.

"I'm your mother sweetie~, I know these things. Now go get that man of yours!" the woman said with a smirk and pumped her fist in the air as she encouraged her daughter who smiled brightly.

"Thanks mom!" she yelled as she went out the door, composing herself before happily running off to school.

'I can finally give him my letter. I hope he'll at least read it.' The girl was thinking as she stopped at a crosswalk, waiting for it to be okay to cross. The girl pulled her back pack to her chest, a pink blush on her cheeks as she closed her eyes and let out a slow breath. The few people around her were heading to work; a few were kids from her school, some knowing the girl personally or just by her last name.

Her name is Daisuke Niwa, and today she was turning 14 and she had made the wish to be more outgoing, like her friends, Risa and Riku Harada. They were her friends since 1st grade, but she also had an even older friend. His name was Funabashi, and he worked for a boy her age name Keiji Sega, the head of the Sega corporations and a fan boy of Daisuke.

The light changed and Daisuke walked along and went in to a small and cozy cream colored shop that sold all types of things for art, clay, paint, sketch books, markers, paint brushes, colored pencils, just about everything you could buy in this little store. When Daisuke opened the door a small bell rang and an elderly woman came out from behind a red and white decorative changing screen with images of Chinese dragons on it.

"Hello! How may I help you? Oh, good morning, Daisuke. Nice to see you again." Said the elderly woman greeted Daisuke as she walked up the counter where an antique cash register sat. The woman's gray hair was in a bun and was wearing a purple housedress that showed off her still lovely figure.

"Good morning, Mrs. Sohma. Here's the payment for the new paints and brushes." Daisuke greeted her as she pulled out a white envelope, with the word 'Payment' written in beautiful black cursive ink.

"Oh! Daisuke. You're a kind girl, I not surprised you have a fan club." Mrs. Sohma smiled at her, takeing the envelope but then sliding over a purple box with a white and sliver bow on top of it. "What's this?" Daisuke asked in confusion as she opened it to see some freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.

"Hope you like them. I made them just for you, to say thanks for bring your grandfather here." The old woman said and gave her a playful wink as she giggled softly.

"So the date went well?" She asked the older woman, who could possibly be her new grandmother who nodded in confirmation."Yes, I guess charm runs in your family." The old woman said with a smile. Daisuke nodded in agreement before looked at the cat clock behind the older woman. It read 7:30, and her school started at 8 but she wanted to get there early to give long time her crush her letter.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Sohma, but I've got to go." Daisuke said hurriedly as she waved to the old lady as she all but ran out the door. Briskly walking her usual route to school a black limo pulled next to her and the back window rolled down and reviled two pairs of brown eyes belonging to two girls who were nearly identical to each other sat in the back seat.

"Morning Daisuke!" both twins said at the same time with smiles.

"Morning Risa, Morning Riku." Daisuke smiled back at them, happy to see her two friends.

"Want a ride birthday girl?" Asked Riku, the twin with her reddish brown hair cut short, Daisuke nodded and she opened the door for the red head to come in. As soon a Daisuke was seated and the door closed behind her the limo took off again.

"Thanks, I was hoping to get to school early today." Daisuke turned to her two friends who were dressed in the same uniform she was only Riku wore some white and green sneakers and Risa work black mary-janes."So, you're going to finally give it to HIM, huh?" Risa asked, her hair more chestnut brown and longer then her sisters as it reaches her waist, as she smiled in amusement.

"Yes. I mean... I hope I can." Daisuke tells her, blushing and looking down at her back pack were she had placed final version of her love note.

"Come on Dai, Of course you can! We're rooting for you." Riku encourages her best friend, to finally confess her love for the boy she had been crushing on for a few years now. "Yeah, I'm sure he would be honored to go on a date with you. Oh, and we have a present for you too~." Risa said happily as she nodded to her sister.

With smiled on their faces they pulled out two little charms in the shape of angle wings. The one Riku was holding was black and purple, dangling from a single sliver ring, and Risa had a White and gold one with had a single gold ring also. Daisuke's eyes widen in recognition of the two charms, as they were the rarest angel charms in the world, The Twin Black and White Wings, which Daisuke had been seeking herself as she collected the angle charms.

"OH MY GOD! You guys got me The Twin Black and White Wings charms! Just for me!?" She said in pure disbelief, the twins only smiled at her. "Yes, we wanted you to have the Black Wings for luck." Riku said as she handed Daisuke The Black Wings. The rumor was that it had the powers to grant a single wish to someone who was worthy same was with The White Wings only it granted eternal love. "And the White Wings for love. So you can get your man." Risa finished, and gave The White Wings to Daisuke who was in near tears from happiness.

"Thank You, Thank you so much. You two are too good to me." She said to them and whipped away her tears before Clipping on the new charms to her sliver bracelet that contained the other angel series charms.

~Fast Forward~

At school Daisuke stood outside the classroom door while Risa and Riku were encouraging her to give the letter to her long time crush already. She stared at the door, the only thing that was standing in between her and the one she would pour her heart out for.

"Go, Daisuke. You can do it" Riku cheered her on as she and her sister stood on either side of the door, only to make sure no one interfered with Daisuke's plan. Giving a nervous nod, Daisuke then put her hand on the door and opened it slowly, peeking in.

He was at his desk at the back of the classroom; no one else had come into the room yet and it was just him. Daisuke relaxed a little and opened the door more, stepping inside as her heart beat franticly in her chest as she slowly approached him.

The boy had short baby blue hair and eyes that were hidden behind a pair of large glasses, which classed with the school's red and white uniform, his skin was almost vampire pale as he sat near the windows of the class room, the morning sun shining on him and the notes he was looking at on his desk.

This was Daisuke's crush, the handsome and mature Satoshi Hiwatari.

She was not like all his other fan girls who throw themselves at him daily; gossiping about his looks and smarts behind his back. Daisuke was to shy for that, while she did admire that he was at the top of their class, and being handsome was just a bonus. Really she can't describe why she likes him in words, it was just something deeper.

Satoshi was known to reject the letters given to him by other girls, crushing them, but they quickly got over it and admired him from a distance. Daisuke's hand trembled as she gently creased her love letter, while she would be crush if he didn't accept it she wanted him to know her feelings that she was finally able to write down. She started to approach Satoshi slowly, her heart beating inside her throat harder with each step.

'My heart won't calm down.' She thought as her face was slowly turning pink as she was arms length away from her crush. He didn't seem to notice her coming as he slammed a fist on the desk, startling her as her heart stopped for a minute as he rolled up what looked to be blue prints and put them away. He then notices Daisuke standing there but gives her a rather cold look.

"What do you want?" He asked, glaring at her for some unknown reason so she just put her head down, not being able to speak while looking him in the eyes.

"Um... Hiwatari, could you... please, read this?" she asked while blushing strawberry red and holding out the letter to for him to take. He only looked at it, as he saw his name written neatly on an plan white envelope with red ink and nothing more. Even if it lacked all the hearts, lipstick prints and the other things some girls put on their love letter to him from the way Daisuke was presenting it to him.

"I don't have time for girls." He replied to her coldly, going to walk pass her but suddenly Daisuke grabbed the sleeve of his school uniform, making him stop. He turned to look back at her, looking down in to her crimson red eyes as he did so. He was seemingly unfazed by her pleading eyes but he saw something in them that he found very familiar and unwanted in her gaze.

"Please… just read it... even if you reject it, just please... read it." She asked him, her face red as she let go of his uniform, looking away and handing him the letter again. It felt like entreaty before he actually took the letter from her hand. Daisuke was nearly choking on her heart as she realized he had taken her letter and was about to read it... or so she taught.

Instead Satoshi held it up at her eye level before tearing it in two.

The sound of it tearing echoed across the room quite room as if taunting Daisuk e. Her eyes widen in shock and horror, tears starting to build up in her eyes as she started to tremble. Her head bowed and her bangs covered her eyes as a single tear escaped down her cheek.

'Why? Why? Why did he rip it up?' Daisuke kept asking herself, stunned and horrified that all her effort to write down her feelings for him where not just rejected but destroyed right in front of her.

The door then slammed open as the Harada sisters burst in, Riku looking very outraged and ready to kill as she stormed her way to the back of the class room.

"Satoshi Hiwatari! You heartless monster, she just wanted you to read the letter!" Riku yelled at Satoshi, as she got close enough to almost punch him while her sister Risa conferred Daisuke with a hug and a pat on the back. Daisuke had fallen to her knees with Risa as her friend rubbed her back, trying assure her. Satoshi seemed unfazed by anything that happened but The White Wing charm on Daisuke's bracelet glowed faintly.

Then bell rang, signaling for the student to get to their class rooms. As people came in some saw the aftermath but Risa and Riku helped get to her seat in the front of the class. Riku and Risa then quickly took their seat, but not without giving Satoshi a hateful glare at what he had done.

Daisuke gave a defeated sigh as she calmed down from crying, her eyes only a little red from the tears.

No one seemed to notice that someone had picked up the love letter that Satoshi had just ripped up from the floor.

Lunch Time

The three girls got their boxed lunches and when to sit outside the sun under a blooming Sakura tree, Daisuke's favorite place to eat. While it was Riku's turn to pick a spot to sit for lunch she thought the pink petals would make Daisuke feel better after the incident form this morning.

Daisuke looked up at the sky, watching the clouds float on by, quietly eating her lunch of rice balls. Risa and Riku were looking at her with worry; she hasn't said anything since this morning either.

"Hey, Daisuke? You in there?" asked Risa as she waved a hand in front of her friends face but didn't seem to get a response.

"Princess Daisuke!" A male voice yelled out but Daisuke didn't respond to that either as a boy with moss brown hair wearing the boys school uniform came up to them and slammed his hands on the table they were eating at.

"Princess Daisuke you all right? Did Satoshi really tear up your love letter? Don't worry I'll make sure he regrets breaking your heart!" the boy proclaimed with fire burning in his eyes, the boy was Takeshi Saehara, who is one of the many boys who have a crush on Daisuke and the president of the Princess Daisuke Fan club.

She ignored him and stood up as the bell rang for the next class, her friends giving her worried looks.

While Daisuke went to her locker, unlocking it with practice ease, she got out her sketchbook and pencils for Art class. Closing and resetting the lock back on Daisuke sighed and started walking when she remembered something.

'Satoshi's locker is down this way and we have the same class.' She thought with a cringe as she looked around for the bluenet, seeing him nowhere she hurried off to class.

"Better later, then sooner for now." She muttered to herself, taking the stares down to the first floor, half way down she stepped on something slippery and started to fall to the next floor face first, panic coursed through her body.

'There's no one around, so I think I can...' Daisuke thought and quickly twisted in midair and landed on the balls of her feet. She didn't care at the moment that her skirt just flew up and reveled her pink panties to the world. Once she did she blushed red and made sure her skirt was down.

'I really hope no one saw that!' she looked around quickly for anyone on the first floor where it was mostly storage rooms when she spotted a certain blue haired boy up the stairs from where she had just fallen.

'S-sa-satoshi!' her eyes widen in surprise and she fidgeted in worry. 'Did... he just see me do that? Mom told me not to do that in public!' she questioned herself. As Satoshi calmly just walked down the stairs never looking at her, but at the steps. If Daisuke had been looking she could have seen a tint of pink easily on his pale face. She only looked at him as he came down and he stopped at the bottom floor next to her, by then the color was gone.

"S-satoshi... did you... see anything?" She asked him, half meaning her panties, half meaning her little trick.

"See, what?" Satoshi answered in an emotionless tone as he walked to class, leaving Daisuke behind, nervous and blushing, over the fact that he may have seen her panties.

Art class

The class assignment in art class was to draw something with wings, and the teacher encouraged the class to be creative. Daisuke already had something in mind, an angel, something that had been in a recent dream she had. He had with beautiful pure white wings, golden eyes that would pierce right threw you and blond hair that look more like gold, long and held up in a ponytail with a cross at the end; he wore a white outfit, and a smirk that would make any girl go crazy for him. However his hands were crossed in front of him with golden chains on his wrists, making him look a little like he was being held prisoner.

Near the end of class the teacher looked at the other students' works and came across Daisuke's she gasped at the beauty of it.

"Daisuke Niwa! Your drawing, it's... it's..." The art teacher tried to find the words for it, but it was so wonderful in left her speechless. Curious some of the other students came to see what the red head had drawn, gasping and praising it. When Satoshi came and gave it a glace he took a much closer second look as shock over came his features.
