Summary: Masumi has never been jealous of anything in his life before. But he's finding out that he doesn't like this new feeling. Written for Theme #2 at 7snogs at LiveJournal, Jealously. Reviews are love!
Masumi was having a really bad day. The source of it all was a little Dalmatian puppy. Sakura had seen the puppy in the middle of a lake and had swum out to save it. The little guy was close to death, but eventually recovered. She named it Oki, "middle of the ocean," and was clear that Sakura had grown to adore it. Masumi was not a dog person, and so, simply put, he was jealous of Oki and how much time it was spending with his Sakura-neesan.
But what really irritated him was that wherever he went, Oki followed him everywhere. It was bothering him, because wherever the puppy went, everyone else followed.
Even worse, the dog liked Masumi a lot. He never seemed to have a moment's peace anymore.
Since Sakura was the one that had initially found the puppy, she cared for it the most, and that was leaving even less time then normal for Masumi and Sakura to spend time together. So, all in all, ever since Oki had come, Masumi's life had become miserable. He decided he had to talk to his Sakura-neesan.
"Sakura-neesan," he said, barging into the salon. It was the middle of the night, and he knew that she would still be up. It probably wasn't the best idea to just burst into the room like he did. Before he could find her in the darkness, he saw the scope shot barrel aimed directly at his head. "S-S-Sakura-neesan!" he cried, alarmed that she would shoot him.
"Oh, Masumi," she said, lowering the gun, her voice softening, "it's only you. Did you want to talk about something?"
"Yes, I did." He said firmly. "Sakura-neesan, ever since that dog got here," he continued, the venom evident in his voice, "we haven't had any time for ourselves!" He was relieved to have gotten it off his chest.
Sakura's eyes widened and a small smile appeared on her lips. "Masumi," she asked softly, "are you trying to tell me that you're jealous of Oki?"
"O-Of course not." Masumi squirmed uncomfortably. He didn't like to admit his weaknesses or flaws to anyone. Sakura stared at him, and he dropped his defenses. "Yes, maybe a little. After all, you found him, and you haven't been paying any attention to me since he got here!" he continued, not sure how Sakura would react.
"Oh, Masumi, you have no reason to be jealous of Oki," she reassured him. "Yes, I did find him, so I feel a kind of maternal instinct towards him. But that doesn't mean that I like him more than you. After all, he is a dog." She sighed, it was evident he would need more reassurance. She leaned over, and kissed him squarely on the lips. He responded quickly, doing the same to her and running his fingers through her long hair, while her hands were alternating between his face and his shorter hair. They were forced to break apart after a few moments, mostly due to a lack of oxygen.
"Come on, Masumi," she said, leading him to her bedroom and locking the door securely behind her. "I'll show you just how much I care. You have no reason to be jealous."
Neither of them was seen until the next morning.
