Come Out ye' Boys in White
A/N, historical note, and disclaimer: Okay I was going to post a new chapter this week of my main story, but this is a silly thing that popped up in my head. This poem is based on an old Irish Rebel song called Come Out ye' Black and Tans, which railed against the British paramilitary police forces that were deployed to Ireland during the 1920s after the failed Easter Rising in 1916. Many of these paramilitaries were veterans of the Great War's Western Front, and had a reputation of violence and brutality against the Irish population. So I decided to adapt this song to fit the setting of Star Wars Rebels, Rogue One, and the Original Trilogy. First, let me state that I take no position on Irish-British relations, nor do I endorse any of the descendants of the post-Independence IRA outside of the Garda and the National Army of Ireland; I find them and their Ulster opponents in Northern Ireland to be thoroughly vile. Second, as far as I can tell, the lyrics and melody (based off Rosc Catha na Mumhan) belong to the public domain, but just in case they aren't, I admit that I possess no ownership to the song or it's paraphrased lyrics. Third, I make no claims to any ownership of Star Wars or it's parent company.
Come Out ye' Boys in White
I was born on a Jothal street, where those loyalist drums did beat,
And those loving imperial feet, they walked all over us,
And each and every night, when my father'd come home tight,
He'd invite the neighbors out with this fine chorus:
Come out ye' boys in white, come out and face me in a fight,
Show your wife how you won medals down on Mandalore,
And how the Massassi Group, ousted you and your whole troop
From the green and rolling hills of Chandrilla,
Come let us hear you tell, how you killed that poor rebel,
How you fought him well and truly persecuted,
Where are those smears and jeers, that you bravely let us hear,
When the leaders of Bestine were executed,
Come out ye' boys in white, come out and face me in a fight,
Show your wife how you won medals down on Mandalore,
And how the Massassi Group, ousted you and your whole troop
From the green and rolling hills of Chandrilla,
Come tell us how you slew, those brave Lasats two by two,
Like the Wookies, they had staffs, and swords, and bowcasters,
And how you bravely faced each one, with your big disruptor gun,
And you pushed them past them past the point of full disaster,
Come out ye' boys in white, come out and face me in a fight,
Show your wife how you won medals down on Mandalore,
And how the Massassi Group, ousted you and your whole troop
From the green and rolling hills of Chandrilla,
The day is coming fast,
And the time is here at last,
When the stormies will be cast aside before us,
And if there be a need then our kids'll say "Forcespeed,"
With a verse or two of Garazeb's fine chorus,
Come out ye' boys in white, come out and face me in a fight,
Show your wife how you won medals down on Mandalore,
And how the Massassi Group, ousted you and your whole troop
From the green and rolling hills of Chandrilla.
