A/N: this randomly came to me a while back
She giggled as he struggled with his keys in the door, trying not to drop what he carried.
"You think this is funny do you? How would you like it if you ended up on the floor?" Shifting her weight once again as he blindly tried to find the lock for his key.
"I did say I'd open the door for you but nooooo Danny Messer doesn't need help." He growled as he once more missed the lock. She started chuckling to herself.
"This. Is. Not. Funny. MONTANA!" he said punctuating each word with a stab at the lock failing miserably each time. Which made her giggle even more.
"What is so funny?"
"This. You holding me like this it just took me back to the first time you carried me. The look of intense concentration and pain at having to lift me up."
"The shoe prints on the rooftop."
"I was so convinced you'd just sweep me off my feet and be done with it but you struggled carrying me."
"Yeah well what do you expect when you caught me just as I was getting changed after whooping some kids ass in a 2 hour handball game. It kinda takes a lot out of a guy. Especially on the arms."
"What?"
"The NHT media case with the guy in the swing park."
"What does that have to do with handball?" He shifted her in his arms again before continuing.
"No one in the area would talk to us and the evidence was getting us no where so I had an idea, grabbed a control car and challenged one of the locals to a game in exchange for information. It took me two hours to beat his ass."
"You never told me that. You should have said something I would have got someone else to help me."
"What and miss out on getting to spend time with you, getting dinner and drinks out of it and getting to hold you for the first time. No thank I'd put up with the arms aching a bit. I'm just glad you didn't comment about my masculinity because I have a few ways to prove it."
"Yeah I'm waiting on that if you'd kindly open the door Detective Messer." He narrowed his eyes at her before she lightly kissed his cheek. Finally he managed to get the key in the lock and opened the door.
"Welcome home Mrs. Messer." Kissing her before stepping over the threshold to their apartment carrying his new wife over their doorstep for the first time.
