Robin tried not to grimace as Starfire swept him off to yet another tiresome activity, truth be told, he was sick of spending all this time with her. He was also sick of the nudges that Cyborg and Beastboy had been giving each other. Beastboy had even tried to nudge Raven; this had resulted in him flying three metre through the air and landing on the stairs. Raven then retired to her room. Robin's thoughts lingered on Raven for a moment, it had been happening more and more of late. Even though he and Starfire were together he had felt that the more time he spent with her, the less he could identify feelings for her.
Raven emerged to the kitchen and Robin could not help but stare at her, Starfire was annoyed, and said so. With an inward sigh Robin turned back to her, grumpily noticing the glances Beastboy and Cyborg were throwing between him and Raven, who was oblivious to all that was happening around her, buried in a book.
Starfire decided to take Raven shopping; Raven did not want to partake in this activity and was dragged out of the tower regardless. It was then that Cyborg and BeastBoy tried a new form of humiliation on Robin. Suggestions were made; that Robin was tired of his girlfriend and was sampling the other options. Was Robin bored and planning on cheating on his girlfriend with his friend? Had Raven grow another head that only Robin could see? The latter coming from the ever imaginative BeastBoy.
When the girls returned the Cyborg and the Shape-Shifter had succeeded in re-colouring their leaders face to a blotchy red. Robin fled to his room and locked the door, he sat on his bed, and thought of Raven. He tried not to, but he always returned to her. He would try and think of a queer mistake Starfire had made and he would remember how Raven would grimace, or manage a weak smile, or bluntly correct the Tamaranian.
The Leader felt like hitting himself every time his thoughts strayed to Her. This happened often, and he felt worse and worse, and then came the knock at his door. It was Starfire, a serious look on her normally gay face; she had wanted to talk, about their relationship. She said that she did not think it was working; the attraction was less now that they were together. She wanted to end it, return to being just friends.
The relief Robin felt when she released him from his bond was indescribable. He felt suddenly free, now he could pursue a relationship with Raven, but his face fell. Raven. It was unlikely that Raven would return his feelings at all, she was his friend, just that, a friend. Robin went from fantastically happy to despairingly sad. Starfire left, a trace of relief evident on her face.
Robin spent the next few days half-heartedly pursuing his usual occupation, to obsess over the discovery of Slade. Everyone noticed, everyone except Raven put it down to Raven, Raven thought it was because of Star. Neither were to know that they returned each others feelings.
