Red Rose
A single rose left to remember, as a single tear falls from her eye
As rain slowly fell from a dark sky she stood there. She was dressed in all black and stood alone, long after everyone else had left. She clutched a single red rose tight to her chest, the thorns biting into her flesh. The physical pain was nothing compared to what she felt as she stared at the grave.
Seems it's only been a moment, since the angels took him from her arms
Rain dripped from her hair and clothes but no tears fell as she stood there. She wished to break down and weep helplessly as everyone else had earlier but the tears would not come. She had wasted all her tears on the day of the accident and now all that was left was the guilt and the pain of losing the one she loved the most.
She was left there, holding on to their tomorrow
Her life could not move forward without him. He had been her world. The dreams they shared were washed away in an instant as the truck came racing towards them. Her screams of fear while their last moments together drew near. His last breath, shallow and weak, as he gave her one last, bloody smile.
But as they laid him in the ground, her heart would sing without a sound
She had watched his life fade away as he lay in a pool of his own blood. Her sobs drew in a crowd as she hugged his lifeless body to her. She reached out and finally laid the rose on the grave. Her hand shaking as she traced his name. Her love was gone and she was alone in the world. How could she move on when she knew he had given his life to save her? She turned her back to the grave as she said her final goodbye and she heard his sweet voice whisper to her. Her eyes widened and she spun around, but no one was there. Just the memory of her lost love and a single red rose.
