Twenty-four year old Troy Bolton looked down at his three year old sleeping daughter Amanda. He glanced at her wavy brown hair.
"Daddy," whispered Amanda, her striking blue eyes flashing open.
"Good morning sleeping beauty," said Troy, kissing her forehead.
"Where's Mommy?" asked Amanda.
"Mommy's still at work." replied Troy. Gabriella worked at the University of New Mexico Hospital from 10 pm- 6 am.
"She be home soon?" asked Amanda, in her three year old accent.
"She'll be home soon," answered Troy.
"Now it's time for Lucas to wake up!" cheered Amanda. If she was awake, her twin brother had to be too.
"Wakey, wakey, Lucas!" she shrieked.
"Amanda, let your brother sleep." said Troy.
"No! Lucas wake now!" complained Amanda. She ran over to her brother's bed and started tugging at him.
"Wake up Lucas!" she cried. Troy couldn't help but laugh.
"Good morning Mandy!" cheered Lucas as the brother and sister hugged. The two were inseparable. Whenever Gabriella had to take Lucas somewhere, or when Troy had to take Amanda, they would cry until the parents gave up.
"Mommy not home yet?" asked Lucas, hugging his daddy.
"Mommy's not home yet." said Troy, kissing his son's cheek.
"Mommy's home," said Gabriella, standing in the doorway.
"Mommy!" cheered the twins, running over to Gabriella.
"Hi baby," said Troy, kissing Gabriella's cheek.
"So, how were the two monsters," joked Gabriella.
"A handful, they didn't sleep until midnight." sighed Troy.
"Mommy and Daddy don't like us?" cried Amanda.
Gabriella shot a sarcastic "good job" look at Troy.
"No, Mommy and Daddy love you very much." said Gabriella, hugging Amanda.
"But you said we were monsters," wept Lucas.
"Whatever we say, we'll always love you." said Troy, picking up Lucas.
"Forever and ever?" asked Amanda.
"Forever," replied Gabriella.
"Why?" asked Lucas.
"Because we do," said Troy.
"Good answer," joked Gabriella.
"Mommy and Daddy love you so much because you mean so much to us." said Gabriella.
"Really?" asked Amanda.
"Really," answered Gabriella.
Troy and Gabriella put the child they were holding down. Amanda and Lucas joined hands and ran out of the room.
Gabriella chuckled. "Our own little family," she said, kissing Troy on the cheek.
Troy smiled, "Our own little family."
