The reaper works only in the darkness of night
When there is no light to spread the light of truth.
He keeps his captives chains, and the wool pulled over their eyes
Hoping to never let them see the light.
He is a thief who comes only to steal, kill, and destroy
But what can he steal when everything I treasure is stored up in Heaven?
What can he kill when everyone is held in His hands?
What can he destroy when I hold nothing of value in this world?
He thrives in sorrow and pain and withers with the joy and life.
He demands a payment which we cannot hope to pay
But I thank my God that He paid that great price.
He builds up walls and towers that appear to be indestructible,
And he places within those walls shackles and chains.
Yet sometimes those walls and towers do not appear to be a foreboding prison,
And sometimes those shackles and chains do not appear to be in existence.
He deceives those with such thoughts; thinking that they live in a paradise when reality they are living in the mud.
They feel no chains around their wrists and hearts, yet it is they that are dragging them down.
But God sent a liberator; to free us from these chains and walls,
He came down holding the key of life, and He entered into the place of our filthiness.
He came to me, as He comes to you, and freed me from these chains of death.
He holds aloft the key of life and says 'come to me and be set free,'
Yet many run fearful, of the light, that all their deeds will cause their blight.
But they do not understand that their slate will be wiped clean, for the reaper has covered their eyes and closed their ears to voice of truth
They, like him, want the light to die; to be extinguished and to never relight.
However the Liberator, the savior of my life, has given me a burning fire brand,
A burning torch to clear the dark, to shine the truth in this darkened world.
And with that fire brand the reaper will run and hide, for he cannot stand the light and the truth it brings.
So tell the reaper that his days are done,
That he has no power over you;
For you will have become a beacon in the night, spreading the truth and setting new hearts on fire.
Now take to heart what you have learned in the light of truth, set this land ablaze and set the captive free.
