Touch
A/N: Mild Aruani drabble.
His tender hand slid across the crystalline surface, oceanic eyes following this movement. The small underground room was lit by nothing but a few torches perched along the walls, giving the enclosed area a rather calming atmosphere. The flame's pale orange glow flickered around her cage, tinting it in a way that seemed to relax her. She could not relax however. She could not stress or panic. Only nothing.
He however could do nothing but wonder. Wonder and sigh.
As far as anyone knew, Annie was harmless in this state. She did nothing but rest in her frozen state, lingering like a ghost.
Armin wanted every fiber in his being to hate this girl. This girl who slaughtered some dozens of people. Annie Leonhardt, the one who betrayed a curious layer of trust for unknown reasons. His friends and fellow soldiers were damaged by this young girl, whom on her own was an uncertain presence, even before the attacks. He felt little resentment towards her however, much to his confusion. A murderer is one to be despised. A traitor is one to be cast away. However neither can be done. He does not hate her, nor can he eradicate her existence from his mind. She lingered there are she does in this clear chamber of hers.
Armin weakly shook his head, thick, golden bangs tickling his forehead. His fingered grazed the crystal in slight frustration. He didn't understand, and that was a very angering concept to him. Usually Armin's brain could figure out anything, detect even the most minuscule clue. But there were none here. Not one.
Annie was one of little words. The most anyone could ever get from her was a harsh glance or a few cold words. Maybe a word of advice, or even a swift ass-kicking. Either way, she was an interesting character. Back in their training years, Armin remembered watching Annie from afar, simply out of curiosity. She felt out of place as a soldier. Whatever motives she had, were a mystery to all. Her motives...
Armin weakly smiled against the cool crystal. His lips parted for a single weak statement.
"You're so cold."
