A/N: Okay, so do you remember when that British lady won the Women's Skeleton at the Olympics? Well, when we were watching the medal ceremony, I asked my dad, "Hey, how does God Save the Queen go?" He, of course, sang a couple bars before I realized I'd heard it somewhere before...

America was in a patriotic mood. Which usually goes without saying, but there was something especially patriotic about today. Okay, with America, there was something especially patriotic about every day, but today, he just felt like singing. Honestly, every time America stepped outside, the sun reminded him of purple mountains and amber grains, and it was all he could do to stop himself from busting out God Bless America whenever he took the time to absorb nature or just the wonders of the world, no matter where in the world he was.

And, it didn't help that all of the songs about how wonderful America was were so catchy. The melody to The Stars and Stripes Forever just swam in his head on repeat, and he had long ago memorized nearly 200 verses of Yankee Doodle. Patriotic songs were America's theme songs, songs dedicated entirely to him; it was no wonder he liked them so much.

So, that's how he'd ended up humming not-so-softly under his breath after a particularly good day in a World Summit meeting. Walking out of the conference room, he sung the words in his head, "My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty; of thee I sing…"

Standing directly behind the young nation, England stopped dead in his tracks. He stared up at the back of America's head and asked, incredulously, "Are you humming God Save the Queen?"

America turned to face his fellow nation with the same wide grin he'd been wearing all day and replied in a cheerful tone, "Nope, it's My Country 'Tis of Thee."

"No," The United Kingdom responded, stubborn on his speculation, "you think I don't know my own national anthem? That was definitely God Save the Queen."

"Why would I be humming your national anthem?" America challenged. "I was singing, 'My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty; of thee I—'"

"What are you talking about?" England demanded, interrupting America's questionable singing voice. "It's 'God save our gracious queen, long live our noble queen, God save the queen.'"

America looked perplexed for a minute as he went over both songs in his head. A few seconds later, he flashed another smile. "Oh, I guess they have the same tune. That's kind of funny!"

England just stared as America skipped away singing, "Oh, beautiful, for spacious skies…" and muttered under his breath, "Bloody git…"

A/N: Seriously, just look up God Save the Queen on Wikipedia. There's a whole list of songs that have the same melody, but different words, including the national anthem of Lichtenstein, of course.
