Adam encounters a scuffle on his way home one night. It's not that long, just snatched some time to write something. Hope y'all like *^_^*

Manhattan County District Attorney's Office, NY, 9:15pm
Adam stepped out of the elevator and treaded up the corridor, battered briefcase and crumpled fedora in hand.
He noticed Claire poke her head out of the wooden panelling of her small cubicle, as the District Attorney continued his journey to his office. He looked away from her as he passed her desk.
Her expression turned perplexed with a hint of concern. "Mr Schiff, I thought you went home," she called out.
He turned around to give her a glaring look. "How very observant of you, Ms Kincaid. Have they made you a MENZA yet?"
She got out of her seat. It was then that Claire noticed how worse-for-wear the elderly gentleman appeared, examining the deep scratch above his left eyebrow.
"Are you just going to stand there, or haven't you got work to finish off?" he sniped. Young people, when they're not on the subway causing a ruckus, they're wasting time lazing about.
The young woman's concerned expression remained. "Forgive me for saying this Mr Schiff, but what happened to you?" Her voice bordered on disbelief, as she stared him up and down.
Those bumptious critters on the subway, that's what happened to me!
Ben emerged from his office, and proceeded to walk down the corridor towards the break room to replenish his cup of coffee.
He stopped to converse with his two colleagues, surprised to see that Adam had returned. "Adam, I thought you went home," he noted.
His droll southern accent caught Adam's ears. He glanced up at the taller man, and then back at Claire. "Just a word of advice for you to keep in mind. Never take a train with tuna-fish sandwiches in your briefcase," he warned. "The ally cats on the subway are crazy for them!"
Fin.
