"You'll find her." Spike reassured Buffy.
"How can you be so sure?"
"Because you'll always save the day. It's what you do love." He smiled. His positive thinking comforted her. She moved to sit on the swing, hunching her shoulders. Spike settled himself down next to her, and, instead of placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder, started to swing.
"Spike, what are you doing?" She laughed at the vampire on the swing, kicking his legs forward as he travelled down. He was gaining height now. He was almost parallel to the bar at the top.
"I haven't been on one of these for. decades now. I forgot how much fun they were. Betcha can't beat me, Slayer."
"Betcha I can!"
They found all pain was lost in the memories of forgotten youth. Swinging was definitely a way of aleviating the pain.
"Have you ever tried jumping off when you reach the peak of your swing?" She said.
"No, sounds a little dangerous pet, I don't think I could."
"Oh God. You are such a wuss." Buffy un-hooked her arms from the swing and somersaulted off, landing perfectly. "That's easy. Dawn could do that when she was te." She winced, remembering that Dawn wasn't around five years ago.
"Okay Slayer. I'll do it." Spike chipped in, trying to keep her mind off the subject. He un hooked his arms too early, as the swing was still going back. "Bloody hell!" He fell forward, hitting the ground with a dull thud. By the time he had looked up Buffy was doubled over with laughter, tears streaming down her face.
"Don't laugh, Slayer." He scowled, playfully. "If I could breath I would be really winded." He crossed his arms, but quickly uncrossed them. "Ow! Bloody hell!"
"What?"
"I think I've broken a rib."
She grinned.
"Stop it!" He said.
"I'm sorry." She stifled a giggle. "You'll heal."
"Shall we keep looking?"
"No point, she's not around here, lets look for the others. See if they've got any news."
"But don't tell them what happened."
"I'll try."
"Buffy, this is between you and me." He waited for her response. "Alright?"
"Okay. You and me."
The vampire and the slayer went to find the others.
