~*~*~*~* AUTHOR'S NOTE: This story is loosely based on the life of the author. This first chapter doesn't contain much dialogue; it is more of an explanation of what you can expect. If you don't like super sad stories, then this one ain't for you. Anyway, anything you come across that you don't recognize, I made up. I'm not really familiar with how one moves from middle school to high school and to college (I'm not from the US), so again I based it on me (I've been itching to make my life a fan fiction, and 'Lizzie McGuire' just seemed to fit it so much) and made Gordo (David here) an 18-year-old college sophomore.

Please review, and no flames please. Thanks! ~*~*~*~*

Lizzie, Gordo's Fallen Angel

Chapter 1: INTRODUCTION

"I can't focus," David Gordon groaned, pulling away his notebook. "Guess this will just have to wait until the morning."

David had a Logic midterm in a few days, but being the studious kid that he was, he wanted to study ahead of time. David has always been a bright kid; he was #4 when he finished school at Hillridge Middle School. Now, just a few years later, 18-year old David is a college sophomore at the University of the Monarchists (UoM).

He switched off the light and proceeded to sleep, or at least he tried to. He was getting pissed already. Something was bothering him. He knew exactly what, and this pissed him off even more. It was that girl, Lizzie. She with that cute smile, sweet scent, captivating eyes. she was so fine. Oh, she was also nice and sweet, kind and smart. David closed his eyes and let her image blind him. Ah, Lizzie McGuire - the girl of David's dreams - until he found out that she wasn't exactly the angel he perceived her to be.

He closed his eyes and let his mind take a trip down memory lane. It was their high school graduation. David was truly happy - not only was he an honor student, he was also awarded Best in Science, beating out his archrival Larry Tudgeman - he and Lizzie had also been dating. They weren't exactly going steady; they just had this mutual understanding between them - that they really, really, really liked each other. However, none of them admitted that to their faces.. they just knew.

They had the next two months off before college started, so they made the most out of it. Together with their best friend, Miranda Sanchez - and the other members of their clique as well (Brooke Baker, Danny Kessler, Alix Moore, Kate Sanders, and Ethan Craft) - they went to lots of different and exciting places, and basically they had fun that most 16-year olds would be having on vacation.

As luck would have it, Lizzie was admitted to the Scholastican State University (SSU), which was right behind UoM - the school David was going to! They made plans to go out every so often, and David thought everything would be going to their plans.

Just before college started, David and Lizzie had a conversation at the latter's house, which, looking back at it now, made David even sadder than usual.

"Hey Gordo," Lizzie said.

David smiled as he remembered how sweetly Lizzie called his name. When he entered college however, he dropped the nickname, thinking it was too kiddie - and used his real name.

"I want you to promise me something." Lizzie said, holding out her palm.

David put his palm over hers and looked into her eyes. "Anything, angel."

"I want you to promise me that we'll always be friends.. friends forever."

David smiled to himself. "Of course we will be friends forever, Lizzie." He then added, a little bit unsure: "Hopefully, even more than that."

Before he knew it, David had fallen asleep.
