The Doctor and his companion bethink of Clara's original traveling plans and cruise the different countries of Earth. They make a stop in present day Germany. As the two of them step out through the doors of the TARDIS into the sun, Clara is excited.
"So this is Germany then. Doesn't look very different from London. Are we in Berlin?"
"Come on, Clara", the Doctor dispraises, "everybody goes to Berlin, it's boring, full of tourists. We are in Stuttgart."
As whenever something surprises her, Clara comments on what has been said. "I didn't know, you were a hipster."
"What is a hipster?", he asks in disgust.
"Never mind", she advices him shortly and continues, "So, Stuttgart. And what are we doing here?"
"What do you think", comes the bright response, "sightseeing, of course! But first we have to get to the city center."
"Why didn't you just land the TARDIS there?", Clara inquires, "it's not like dangerous or something."
"The Stuttgart center is full of people. We could be seen. Moreover: What if we materialize exactly around an unsuspecting German? He'll get the shock of his life, when he's suddenly standing inside the console room of a British phone box."
On that note, the two of them find a tram stop. Then Clara notices something. "Stuttgart moves on rails? First Amsterdam, Prague, Tokyo, then here, London again and again. Is there a chance you're having a soft spot for cities with tramway networks?"
"Those are marvelous technology, Clara, don't underestimate that", the Doctor defends his hobby. A short cue with the sonic screwdriver and the orange ticket machine vomits two carton squares of the same color. The Time Lord pockets one, the other one he hands to his companion. "Day tickets", he explains en passant, "Using this you can ride anywhere until 4am tonight. Bus, tram, underground, as you like."
At that moment, a little girl passes and hands her a sheet of printed paper. Clara reads. Then she addresses the child. "Your cat has vanished? That's so sad. When did this happen?"
"About a month ago", the little girl answers sorrowfully, "But I wanted to try once again to find her. Since I loved her so much. I always collected cardboard boxes for her, because she liked to play inside them a lot."
"Well, I will be sure to keep my eyes open", Clara assures and as the girl goes away, she addresses the Doctor. "The cat is gone, isn't it?"
"Certainly", he agrees mournfully, "after a month. In all likelihood the animal isn't alive any more. That's what comes of autobahns without speed limits." She packs the missing leaflet into her pocket. Then he adds: "Let's talk about something different. Crying children make me sad. What do you want to see?"
The tram arrives and they enter. "No idea. Be my guide. There's certainly something exciting going on, around here."
On that cue, the Doctor sits down and reaches into the gap between his seat and the wall. There he finds what he is searching for. "Left Newspapers! If you want to see something interesting, you need to get to know, what the local newspaper considers interesting." Then he pauses. "Oh, that actually seems interesting."
