As the music changes to a slower song Jack Sparrow looks at the stage with a tilt of his head. The band never plays slow music at these kinds of celebrations; there is never any reason to dance. He looks over at the opposite wall and sees a group of women who are guests at this particular celebration and he realizes why the band suddenly decided to play a slow song. He watches as men drunkenly choose women from the side of the dance area. He is not interested.
He looks around again, listening to the slow beats in his head and the soft tune coming from the stage. His eyes stop on a quiet, reserved young man sipping on some rum and watching his surroundings. He strides over to the man.
"Fancy a dance?" Sparrow is a little bit drunk.
The man looks up at him. He's young, looks as though he would make a good pirate. He also looks confused. "Who, me?"
"Come along," Sparrow puts his hand out. "What's your name?"
"Are you mad, man?"
"No, just a tad drunk."
The man stands up carefully. "My name is Will. Will Turner."
"Nice to meet you, Will Will Turner." Sparrow winks at him and pulls him by his hand out onto the dance floor.
No one seems to notice or care that two men are slow dancing, embraced and looking comfortable. The two don't seem to notice the people around them, anyway.
