Tears in the Rain
Put on your large trench coat,
Take umbrella and hat.
Walk out to the neon road,
As puddles splitter splat.
…
Once again it's raining,
As tortured sky, it weeps.
Walk as briskly as you can,
Through the crowded street.
…
Pick up a newspaper or two,
Hear ads booming from the sky.
Shuffle through the throbbing mass,
As above, Spinners fly.
…
The time has come for dinner,
Some noodles, and some rice.
The grub is bland and tasteless,
Yet by most standards, quite nice.
…
Skim your evening paper,
See what's happening in the world.
Read about the colonies,
While on Earth, woe unfolds.
…
Leave your evening meal,
Go back to the street.
Go back to the throbbing mass,
This city never sleeps.
…
Go back to your little home,
Have a glass of gin.
On second thought, another shot,
Tomorrow, you'll sleep in.
…
For the day is never welcome,
The sun too warm and bright.
For this is your simple life,
The glowing neon night.
