Sam and Freddie sat out on his fire escape. He watched as her eyes sparkled when she laughed at one of his stories about his mum.
"You know, your eyes sparkle when you laugh," he whispered and she rolled her eyes, "It's true, they're prettier than the stars."
"That's a lie," she said back looking up at the stars that sparkled brightly.
Sam heard a car horn outside her house. She pulled her blinds back and peered out the window. She let out a soft laugh when she saw the old blue pick-up truck she knew was Freddie's. She rushed out of the house and jumped into his waiting arms.
"Are you crazy? My mum will kill you if she finds you out here!" she said after they'd gotten comfortable on the hood of the car.
"I don't care," he replied looking around at the stars above them.
Freddie let out a noise in surprise when he saw Sam come down the stairs in Carly's apartment. She wore a short black dress and her hair was braided down her back. He took her hand and pulled her out of the apartment down to his car.
"You look beautiful in that dress, just like usual," he complimented her.
"Oh shut up," she giggled looking out the window at the stars in the sky.
Freddie and Sam sat together on Carly's couch. She wore faded blue jeans and she rested her head on his chest. Tears streamed down her face as he comforted her. He kissed her forehead gently but she refused to look at him.
"We can make it work long distance," he promised.
"That's a lie," she said back looking at the glow in the dark stars Spencer had stuck on the roof.
Sam breathed in deeply, she stood in Carly's apartment building for the first time in four years. She climbed the stairwell and was happy to see the hallway empty, the iCarly reunion wasn't for another couple of hours, maybe he wouldn't be arriving until later. She knocked on Carly's door and gasped when Freddie answered.
"Sam," he breathed, "I've missed you."
"Sure you have," she scoffed, storming past him and not looking up at the stars on the ceiling.
Sam and Carly stood in the kitchen, catching up and listening to music. Carly smiled when a Tim McGraw song she recognised well came on. She turned to her pearled dock and turned it up.
"I remember this is your favourite song," she said turning back to Sam.
"Yeah, it is," Sam said with a soft smile.
Freddie heard a knock at his door, it was early in the morning, barely 2:00am. He stumbled to the door and opened it. He looked around and didn't see anyone but then he looked down and saw a note.
"Dear Freddie,
I'll probably never give you this, but writing it makes me feel a teeny bit better. Okay that's a lie but I can pretend.
We're going to college, wow, never thought I would say that. The only problem is that we're going to different colleges...across the country.
I know you'll be a total dork and try to convince me that we'll make it, but we both know that won't happen.
So I'm writing this to say goodbye because I'm gonna be bawling my damn eyes out on the day.
When you think of me, I want you to think of all our happy moments, the time when we sat on your fire escape and you said my eyes were prettier than the sky.
The time you showed up at my house at midnight.
The times we went on the world's best dates.
Don't remember me as the crying mess who couldn't say a proper goodbye.
I love you,
Love Sam xx" and then, in a different ink colour scrawled underneath something else was written.
"P.S. I wrote this letter three years ago ane oh my god it's so cheesy, now look up you big nub."
He looked up and smiled at the sight of the blonde in front of him. She smiled back and rushed into his arms.
"Your eyes are still prettier than the stars," he said looking into the sparkling pools of blue.
"That's still a lie," she replied looking back at him.
