Dana flopped down on her bed after a tiring basketball practice. She had only been back from France for a week, but it was like she had never left in the first place.
She was back on time to get back on the basketball team, and she even had her old roommates back.
"Dana!" Zoey called running into her room. "What, I'm beat!" Dana said, annoyed as she shut her eyes.
" there is this tenth grade talent show and we are all required to do it and you have the best voice out of all of us. Please, please, please sing lead?" Zoey begged, Nicole by her side.
" if I say yes will you let me sleep?" Dana said, not even bothering to look up. "yes" they replied, rolling their eyes in unison.
" great, I'll do it, wake me up in an hour and we'll decide on the song." Dana said, burying her head in the Eiffel Tower shaped pillow.
It seemed she had just closed her eyes when Zoey and Nicole were shaking her awake. Dana sighed, chucked a few pillows…and a CD player (that earned a satisfying "OW! DANA!" from Nicole) and got up.
"Okay, what song are we gonna do?" Zoey asked in a motherly tone. "OMG! What is THIS?" Nicole said, holding up a journal with one name scribbled across it many times.
"You sooooooooo like him don't you!" Nicole asked. "No!" Dana said, grabbing her journal and shoving it into the pile of blankets and such on her bed.
"Ooo! I have the perfect song!" Nicole squealed excidely, grabbing a dick and the CD played Dana had thrown at her and shoving it at Zoey who listened for a few seconds then grinned.
Dana was getting very annoyed. "Excuse me! I have to sing it, don't you think I should know what it IS!" Dana said. Zoey took off the headphones and handed them to Dana who listened then got an angry expression.
"I DO NOT LOVE HIM!" She said in an angry whisper. "We know…that the point…" Nicole said.
"Fine! Tomorrow we do choreography. Then we'll put it with the words. If you two do not remember the words PERFECTLY by Sunday at noon, I'm out…" Dana said, grabbing a bottle of water from the mini fridge and leaving in only her mini red shorts and a black tank top.
Dana sat in the sand with her knees pulled up to her chest and her arms straight out in front of her. She knew Logan was behind her before he said "Hey"
Since she had come back, there was always this…thing….with Logan. It was like he was shy or afraid to say something wrong. "Hi she muttered.
"You okay?" he asked, sitting next to her in the same position as she was in, but with his arms circling his knees.
"I guess." She said. "Wanna talk?" Logan asked. Dana looked at him. "What is it with you lately? I mean…you're so…different…it's…nice." She said, resting her head on his shoulder.
"I dunno." He muttered. "Well…what are you doing for the talent show?" "It's a secret." He said. "But you'll get a good laugh out of it. How about you?"
"Me and the girls are doing something together. But it's a secret." She said. Logan laughed. "Okay." He said. Dana grinned and took a sip of her water.
"We had better go…" Logan said. "Right. Bye Logan…" Dana said, pecking his lips ever so lightly and running quickly back to her dorm.
All that weekend, the tenth graders practiced their hearts out. Because Monday night would be the first round. On Monday…out of the whole tenth grade, six students would be left.
