The hard raindrops fell on to my shoulders as I ran home. I just had the most terrible night. I went on a date with Chad from college and I don't know why I wanted to. The jerk tried to kiss me. I dumped my salad and coke on his head and stormed out of Kings Diner. I walked home as I cried and let my mascara run down my cheeks and smother my blush.
I now ran down the dirt path that lead to my house. I could barely see, but I had been walking up this path since I was three. I climbed the steps that lead up to the door of my newly bought house. my parents were visiting so I knew I had arms to hug me. I pulled out my keys and unlocked the door. I ran into the kitchen, hoping to find dad's warm embrace waiting for me. I ran up to whoever was standing by the kitchen table and he wrapped his arms around me. I knew it was dad because I could smell the Old Spice on him.
"Shhh… It's okay Mitch.", said a very not-dad-like voice.
"Shhhaaannee?", I stuttered.
"It's okay babe. Your parents left five minutes ago and I'm not leaving you here alone."
"I thhougghtt yyooouuu wweerere on ttoouur."
"I'm right here that's all that matters."
I now collapsed at his feet. He sat beside me and held me for about ten minutes as I told him about my whole night.
"I brought you something.", he said.
I looked up and wiped my tears. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small brown bag. He handed it to me and I opened it. Inside was a black velvet box. I opened it and inside was a diamond ring.
"Baby just say yes.", he said.
"How could I refuse Popstar?", I said as he picked me up and spun me around our kitchen.
Somewhere my day went from terrible to biggest day ever.
Now I'll be Mrs. Shane Gray! What a day!
