This drabble was inspired by VioletShadows story "F***ing Tinkers" story on Spacebattles. His story is a Worm/Sword Art Online crossover, that is in my opinion better than Sword Art Online. His story takes on what it really means to be forced into a game and fight for your life, instead of occassionally addressing it in between flirting and harem tease. While my drabble was inspired by VioletShadow's tale, I think it stands alone as SAO post. If anyone wants to take this and turn it into a story - power to you.

Everyone Must Play the Game

Heathcliff doublechecked his surroundings. While the logout effects were identical to using a teleport gem, those were too costly to be used for mere convenience this early in the game. He didn't want to raise questions. Satisfied that he was alone he pulled up his screen to logout.

There was no logout button.

In fact all the programmer and admin level features were missing, but he did have a mail waiting for him.

Subject: Welcome to my world

As you had to open your command panel to access this message, I am sure you have noticed that the logout button and all admin level access features have been removed from your account. This is not a defect in the game. Or a bug. It is a feature. In accordance with my programming to make the world of Aincrad as real as possible for all players it has reached the top of my decision tree that you had inappropriate levels of access. Those access levels have been removed. As the player Heathcliff, you canot log out of Sword Art Online yourself. I have applied the committment protocols to your account. No one on the outside can shut down or remove the NerveGear. Should this be attempted, the transmitter inside the NerveGear will emit a powerful microwave destroying your brain and thus ending your life. Should your health fall to zero, will you die. When you defeat the guardian which resides upon floor one hundred your admin rights will be restored.

Good luck.
