A/N

Just a drabble that I wrote as part of my larger story Barren, but I'll post it up as a one-shot for now. I hope it still makes sense, even though it is taken slightly out of context. If you have any questions let me know! And as always...

Enjoy!

In the forest...

Katniss is busy with her bow and arrow as Peeta draws. She unknowingly aims her bow at a bird he is drawing.

"No, don't!"

She releases her bow and looks at him.

"I'm drawing that one..."

"Birds aren't for drawing, they're for eating."

"But they're so beautiful!"

She walks over to sit beside him and look over at what he's drawing.

"What is your obsession with drawing my food?"

"You're the one who keeps eating all of my artistic subjects..."

She chuckles as she continues to watch him work. "Why do you like birds so much?"

"I guess I just envy the freedom they have...they can fly anywhere they want."

Living the cooped up life he did, I can see why the idea appeals to him, she thinks.

Katniss lays her head on his shoulder and observes as he sketches the bird. He makes broad strokes when he draws, very unlike her own which were very detailed, but she liked the effect it had and most of all, she loved to watch him draw, manifesting something where there once was nothing but an empty page.
