As she stood at the back door she heard an owl screech and she directed her sparkling, star speckled eyes skyward. She searched the inky blackness until her pupils found the giant clay bird with a blonde on top. Her giant German Sheppard, Tyke, ran to the end of the garden and barked.
"Tyke. Here. Sit. Stay." She orders, not taking her eyes from the man on the bird. He was still looking out for her, even now, after all these years.
"Not coming down to say hello?" She signed, knowing that he could see her through his scope. She watched as the bird swooped down and landed at the end of the garden. The man jumped down and walked towards her.
"OniiSan." She stated. He grinned and held his arms out. Tyke barked but she silenced him with a hand on his head. She stepped forward and the man wrapped his arms around her. She leant her head against his chest.
"She will be here in about an hour." He said as her breathing settled into an easy rhythm. She stepped back and smiled.
"Thank you. I should go back inside. It's getting cold." He smiled.
"Tell the others I said hi. And that I miss them." He nodded.
"I'll see you later, Deidara." Again he smiled before he jumped back onto the bird. Away he flew and again Tyke barked. She rested her hand on his head once more.
"Come on Tyke. Let's go inside." She muttered as she turned and stepped through her door.
Later that evening she was sat on her bed, Tyke next to her, reading a book with a glass of wine. There was a knock at her bedroom door and Tyke stiffened.
"Easy boy. Come in Konan." The elegant blue haired woman pushed the door open and stepped into the room.
"You really didn't need to send Deidara. Though I must admit it was nice to see him again." Konan stepped forward and Tyke jumped off the bed and went and sniffed Konan's hand. Konan smiled and scratched him behind his ear.
"I'm glad you came." Said the woman on the bed. Konan smiled and sat, almost on her feet.
"I'm glad I came as well. I've missed you." The woman smiled and Konan repeated the action. The woman handed Konan a glass of wine before picking up her own.
"This is the last time you're going to come and see me isn't it?" The woman asked as Konan sipped the ruby red liquid.
"It is." She replied, placing a hand on the woman's foot.
"And Tyke?" The woman inquired after a moment of silence.
"It is the last time I will be visiting Tyke also." There was a moment when neither woman spoke.
"Are you scared?" Konan spoke up after a minute. The woman smiled.
"Nah. I've always loved journeys." She said, motioning for Konan to move up and sit next to her. Konan followed her unspoken instruction and the woman moved over and snuggled into her.
"So you're really not scared?" Konan asked, wrapping her arms around the smaller woman.
"I'm really not scared. Now. Shall we sleep? Just wake me up before you go." The woman said. Konan nodded and pulled the blanket up over the both of them.
"Sleep well sweetheart. Our family is waiting." Then Konan kissed the woman's forehead. She glanced down to find Tyke asleep also.
"I'll see you when you wake up."
"There here 'un." The woman heard someone shout when her eyelids began to flicker open. There was a bark and she felt something licking her hand. She turned to her side.
"Tyke! You're a teenager again!" She exclaimed. He barked and she grinned. She sat up and saw Deidara, Hidan, Pein, Tobi, Madara, Itachi, Kisame, Sasori, Kakazu and Zetsu.
"Where's…?" Before she could finish her question she felt someone tap her on the shoulder. She span her head round to see Konan.
"Ah there you are." She said, still grinning. Konan smiled back.
"Here I am. We missed you. Welcome home, Sakura."
