Daphne sighed to herself as she sat beside a marble fountain in the front gardens of Greengrass Manor. She was the heiress of the Ancient and Most Noble House of Greengrass, one of the founding families of the British Wizarding Society, and she hated it. She hated it because she had most of Slytherin trying to get between her legs due to her being who she was. She closed her ice blue eyes attempting to bring her mind to order, as she dreaded this upcoming sixth year and the political games she knew she would face. Draco Malfoy had almost had his way with her last year, and he would have succeeded if it were not for her friends Tracey Davis and Blaise Zabini.
She was thinking to herself about how she could approach Harry Potter, who she had a crush on since her third year, when there was a loud crack that jolted her from her musings. Daphne had her grandmother's wand, which she used to practice spells when she was at home to confuse the magic tracer that was placed on wands. The wand was in her hand as fast as an auror due to her father teaching her how to duel because of her status. Daphne had the Reducto curse on her lips, when she saw a young man apparate in front of her. The boy staggered briefly before collapsing on to the trunk that had appeared with him. The shock of his sudden appearance dulled her recognition. The boy, now collapsed on the trunk in front of her, was Harry Potter.
It took her a few seconds, due to the shock of his appearance, to register that he was covered in blood. Daphne quickly ran over to him and with a flick of her grandmother's wand made his trunk float. Daphne then waved her wand using the Mobilicorpus spell to move him into the manor. She noticed he did not have his glasses but shook that thought off; he was badly hurt and needed medical attention. From what she could tell at first glance, he had two black eyes and some bones that seemed out of place.
Meanwhile, Nickolas Greengrass was in his office with his wife Cassandra Greengrass and Nickolas felt the Greengrass wards flare up and he got up and gave his wife a look that said he would check it out. He walked sedately to the entrance hall of the manor when he saw his oldest daughter floating a young man in front of her. His eyes widened when he saw that the young man was in very bad shape. "Cassy, get your medical supplies!" he yelled over his shoulder and rushed to help Daphne with Harry.
Nickolas helped his daughter get the young man to a room and with a gesture of Nicolas's wand, the bed linens were vanished. Daphne and her father put Harry on the bed as Cassy ran into the room with a bunch of potions and her wand. Daphne moved the trunk against the wall, and settled it on the floor before ending the spell.
Cassy moved to the side of the bed and quickly cast a diagnostic charm on the boy. As the results came back, her eyes widened in shock. She quickly began to murmur spells under her breath and looked up at her daughter. "Sweetheart, I need you to help me remove glass from his eyes. It would seem that parts of his glasses are cutting into them," she said. Daphne nodded her head and began to cast a spell her mother had taught her when she was younger to remove small fragments gently from injured people so not to cause more damage or pain., she realized now why he didn't have his glasses on.
Nickolas watched from the doorway as his wife and daughter worked and he could not help but smile to himself at how proud he was of both of them. Daphne was going to be an amazing medi-witch like her mother was someday. He then focused on his daughter, "Do you know who this is snowflake?" he asked her. Daphne finished taking the last of the glass out of Harry's eyes and nodded at her father. "It's Harry, Harry Potter dad" she said.
Her mother and father both exchanged a significant look and then both turned back to Daphne as she began to cast a spell to remove the blood around his nose and chest. Her mother went back to work as well. She tilted his head back, and then poured a potion down his throat. She did this twice with two different potions: one being a Skele-grow potion and the other being a blood replenishing potion which was laced with dreamless sleep potion before looking at her daughter.
"He needs rest sweetheart, if we give him more potions his body may go into shock," she said.
Daphne looked at her mother then at Harry; she ran a hand through his hair and found blood so she cleaned his hair with a spell. "I am going to stay with him so when he wakes up he doesn't freak out or anything Mum". Her mother smiled and kissed her daughter's forehead and nodded at her daughter. Nickolas smiled a little bit and nodded at his daughter before he and his wife left the room. Periodically Cassy would come in and check on him, Daphne sat in a chair next to the bed hoping and praying to the goddess that the man she had a crush on was going to pull through. At one point when Cassy came in, she had a smirk on her lips when she saw Daphne slumped forward with her head resting on the bed, she simply rolled her eyes in amusement. She checked Harry's vitals and spelled a blood-replenishing potion into him and fixed a few of his bones that had grown wrong from being broken and never set properly. Once done she waved her wand replacing the bed linens before leaning down to give Harry a kiss on the forehead.
Harry's eyes slowly opened to find the room blurry. The sun was shining through a window but it wasn't coming from the way his window normally was at. He then remembered what had happened the night before. His eyes looked around the room he was in and found that it was not his room. The room walls were done in a soft sage green color. He also realized that he was in a large bed with soft sheets. He then felt a hand on him and he moved his head to see whom it was. By squinting, he saw a girl about his age asleep next to him. Her blond hair made him think to himself for a few seconds when she slowly sat up yawning. Harry looked at her cream color skin and rose red lips, he also briefly glanced at her bust which was not that big maybe a B-cup. Their eyes met and he could not look at her ice blue eyes, which seemed to sparkle in the sunlight he realized right away, who she was. "Wait? Why is the Slytherin Ice Queen, Daphne Greengrass, here? Where am I?" he asked himself.
Daphne saw the questioning look in his eyes and placed a hand on his shoulder to reassure him. "Don't worry Potter, you are safe. Welcome to Greengrass Manor. Well, as much of it as you were able to see. I was outside when you appeared near me. I brought you inside and my mom who is a medi-witch, who works at St Mungo's and I healed you the best we could. Your wounds were severe. Welcome back to the land of the living" Daphne said with a warm smile. Harry did not know why but his heart fluttered a little when she smiled at him. It was like when Cho looked at him last year. How could he have missed her until now?
Daphne looked over at the door to the room to see her mother smiling at her.
"Sweetheart, go take a shower and get some fresh clothes on. I am going to run a diagnostic spell on the young man and give him this." she held up a flushing potion," He has been doused with a powerful dose of Amortentia on top of his other injuries," she said. This caused Daphne to give her mother a dark look before kissing Harry on the forehead and walking out of the room.
Harry blinked a few times as Daphne kissed his forehead. "Did Daphne Greengrass just kiss his forehead? Was he in heaven, or was this a dream? If it is a dream, I do not want to wake up." he thought to himself.
His eyes then moved to the older woman who sat next to him. She looked like the older version of Daphne but had soft blue eyes unlike Daphne's ice blue eyes. "Hello Mister Potter, my name is Cassandra Greengrass, and as you can guess I am Daphne's mother. I am going to cast a diagnostic spell to see how your wounds have healed ok?" she said.
At Harry's nod, she casted the spell and smiled at him. She then held up the potion and he made a sour face which made Cassy laugh.
"I promise you, it doesn't taste like what Madam Pomfrey brews," she said and he sighed.
He drank the potion and realized she was right. He looked at her and spoke for the first time.
"May I ask where my glasses are?" he asked and she smiled at him just as her daughter came back into the room. "You didn't arrive with them on, we pulled pieces of them out of your eyes. However, don't worry we can buy you new ones or better yet contacts as you have such lovely eyes, just like your mother". She said and looked at her daughter who moved to Harry's other side. "You knew my mom and dad?" Harry asked looking wide eyed at Cassy. Cassy smiled warmly at Harry and nodded. "I talked to your father at times, my husband Nickolas would be able to tell you more. Your mother and I became good friends around the middle of our first year at Hogwarts, I think I may have some of the letters she wrote me, if you want, I can find some of them for you." she said with the same warm smile on her lips. Harry's eyes seemed to light up at that which made Cassy smile at him.
Harry looked over at Daphne and thought for a few seconds. "I... I do not mean to sound rude but you seem to be nicer than what you are at school. Again not to be rude but you really do seem to come off as really cold and heartless." He said hoping he had not angered Daphne or her mother at this comment. Daphne giggled a little at this before smirking. "I am a very warm and kind person, but you must understand one thing." she said and smiled at her mother before her eyes looked back to Harry. "The house of snakes can be very hard to live in. I use my 'Ice Queen' persona to protect myself from people like Draco who are always trying to get me. The down side to my 'Ice Queen' persona is it's really hard to get guys I want to talk to me to even come near me without being scared I am going to hex them." she said with a small smile.
"Mister Potter, may I ask what happened and why you have so many injuries? Some of the ones I healed have been from years ago," she said with a sad concerned look in her eyes. Harry blinked a few times before looking away a little sad about that but she had run a scan which meant she would have known about everything so he let out a small sigh and smiled a little. "My aunt and uncle Vernon and Petunia Dursley, and their son Dudley are not the nicest of people. They always beat me up. I was doing the dishes last night when Vernon attacked me. That's the last thing I remember before waking up to the sight of your daughter." he said with a smile at Daphne's blushed. "You said I had Amortentia in my system? What is that and why was it there?" he asked.
Cassy let out a small sigh and smiled sadly, "Well, Amortentia is a powerful love potion it makes you fall in love with the person is keyed to, which it was keyed to Ginny Weasley. I have no idea why it was in your system." she said sadly.
Cassy let out a low sigh as she went over the name Petunia though. "Petunia, as in Lily's little sister Petunia Evans!?" she said in an annoyed voice. Harry looked at Cassy and when he nodded Cassy swore under her breath. She heard her husband behind her and she gave him a dark look. "That old coot put Harry with Lil's little sister!" she said with anger. Nickolas rolled his eyes and shook his head. He knew for a fact that Lily and James would never want their son anywhere near that woman.
He let out a small sigh and saw the questioning look on Harry's face and smiled. "I was a good friend of your father in Hogwarts. I was his secret contact in Slytherin; I was why their pranks went off without ever getting caught. My wife Cassy here was in Ravenclaw and best friends with your mum Lily. A lot of our classmates thought they had a thing for each other in the fifth year." he said and then yelped as his wife sent a silent stinging hex at his arm.
Harry laughed outright at this. He now knew where Daphne had gotten so good with the stinging hex. He had never been hit by her stinging hex but he had heard from people who had and about her deadly aim. "Well I now know where Daphne got so good at the stinging hex.," he said earning him a swat on the arm by Daphne. He looked at her and saw that she had a playful smile on her lips.
"I wonder what it would be like to taste her lips?" he said and then his hands clapped over his mouth. He didn't mean to say that out loud. Daphne turned bright red and her mother burst into laughter. Harry was trying to figure out why he said that and her mother placed a hand on him. You're a little high perhaps from the potions that are still in your system dear." she said giggling
Nickolas fell to the ground laughing so hard, he was clutching his ribs because they were hurting. Daphne bit her lower lip and smiled weakly. "If you are a good boy you may find out later." she said with a small wink. Harry turned as red as the Weasley's hair color. This only made Daphne's father laugh even harder.
Once her father regained himself and stood up. "Allow me to properly introduce myself; I am Lord Nickolas Michael Greengrass, Lord of the Ancient and Most Noble House of Greengrass, and I bid you welcome to our ancestral home. Obviously, you have met my wife Lady Cassandra Ann Greengrass, or Cassy as I and a few others call her, a truly gifted Healer at St. Mungo's. I also believe you know my daughter Daphne, Heiress of the Ancient and Most Noble House of Greengrass, and a year mate of yours. I think you also may know my youngest daughter Astoria, or Tori as most people call her. She is a few years younger than you," he said with a smile.
Harry blinked a few times and then looked at Daphne who was smiling at him. He looked back at Nicolas. "Sir, why did you call your family the Ancient and Most Noble House of Greengrass? I don't understand what you mean by that. Does that have any similarity to the Ancient and Most Noble House of Black? " Harry said a little confused.
Nickolas eyes darkened a little. "Harry you don't know about the seven Ancient and Most Noble Houses?" he asked. A shake of Harry's head is all the response he needed.
Swearing under his breath, Nickolas continues, "Ok Harry, there are seven families called the Ancient and Most Noble Houses of Great Britain. They are Greengrass, Longbottom, Bones, Delacour but they moved to France in the early 1900s, Zabini, Black, and the most powerful and "leading" family of the seven, The Most Ancient and Most Noble House of Potter." he said.
Harry looked thunderstruck. His family was called the The Most Ancient and Most Noble House of Potter? "Why was I never told of this?" he asked his voice filled with annoyance. Daphne put a hand on his shoulder comfortingly trying to calm him down, which seemed to work, as he flashed a tight grin at her.
"That's a good question Harry. Do you know who your magical guardian is?" Cassy asked. When he looked at her with a blank look, her eyes became murderous again. She looked at her husband who looked just as angry. "At your look, you do not know what a Magical Guardian is. Your Magical Guardian is the person who takes care of your magical needs and helps you with information in the magical world." Nickolas said which Harry nodded and let out a small sigh.
Daphne smiled a little more. "The Seven Ancient and Most Noble Houses built the wizarding world in a way. They built the Wizengamot, and laid the foundations for the I.C.W. They are the oldest and most powerful, wealthiest, have high ranking seats on the Wizengamot, and all of them date back thousands of years. The Potters brought the other six together under a common goal of peace between the wizarding world. Back in the late 1800s and 1700s our world was in chaos due to the muggle church calling for witch hunts and such. Due to the seven working together, the wizarding world and the world of muggles has lived in peace for a very long time." she said and Harry's eyes widened.
Harry slowly sat up and looked at Daphne, then her mom and dad, "So, looks like there are a few things I need to learn about my family history. Guess it's not all bad that my uncle tried to kill me last night, at least I got to somehow end up here." he said with a small sigh.
Nickolas once again laughed at Harry. "Well I see you have your father's sense of humor...and your mother's as well if I may say." He said shaking his head. "Cassy dear can the boy get up? I bet he is starving." A gurgling noise from Daphne's midsection stopped everyone's train of thought. "I also think Daphne needs to eat too, before she explodes from being so embarrassed." He said and then yelped for the second time today as his daughter hit him dangerously close to his nuts.
"Remember daddy I do not miss twice." she said with a small smile as she slid her grandmother's wand away.
Harry blinked a few times at her. "How can you use magic outside of school?" he asked.
Daphne smiled at him and winked. "You see your wand has a Trace on it which alerts the Ministry if you are using magic outside school." she said and held up her grandmother's wand. "This wand belonged to my grandmother. It does not have the Trace so I can use all the magic I want without having to worry about alerting anyone. All pureblood families know about this, and so most of us purebloods and some half bloods get away with using magic outside school by using a deceased family member's wand. If my mum and dad don't mind, I can show you the Greengrass family wands, maybe they would even allow you to borrow one. Then once we can get into your vaults, where I bet your mum and dad's wands are, you could use one of your family member's wands." she said looking up at her dad who nodded his head.
Harry smiled and slowly got up and walked with the Greengrass family down to their dining room. The Dining room, which could fit Dursley's kitchen and dining room into it and still have room, was dominated by a grand table that only had four places set. Once they all sat down, Harry looked around. "Where is your little sister Daphne?"
She stuck her tongue out at him to get him to laugh. "She is at a friend's house for the rest of the summer," she said and rolled her eyes at her mother's amused look.
The food appeared on the table just like Hogwarts and they all began to eat. A house elf appeared next to Harry. "Friend of young mistress, I be Nips. I is to give you this once three times a day starting today. I's a good elf?" asked the little house elf.
Harry looked at the potion the elf was offering and nodded his head before taking it. "What is this potion?" he asked. Cassy smiled softly at him. "It's a nutrient potion. You are far too skinny for your age." she said keeping her soft smile as Harry nodded his head and drank it making a disgusted face and the taste of it.
Daphne smiled at Harry and then looked at the elf. "You are a good house elf Nips, thank you for helping us take care of Harry." Daphne said. The house elf beamed with delight at Daphne's words and popped away. 'Take care of me,' Harry thought to himself, 'Never thought anyone would ever care enough about me to try and take care of me." Unbeknownst to him, tears silently slide down his cheeks.
Daphne saw his tears and impulsively wrapped him up in a hug. Harry's heart fluttered when Daphne hugged him. It wasn't like Mrs. Weasley's, which he always felt smothered. It was warm and loving. Harry smiled at Daphne when she released him. They ate in silence for a little bit before Cassy spoke up. "So Daphne tells us that you have had an interesting five years at Hogwarts?" Cassy said causing Harry to snort with laughter.
Harry finally got control of himself and nodded. "If you can call them that. First year, I nearly fell off my broom when I was playing quidditch due to someone attempting to jinx me. Then, some friend and I found out that the Philosopher's Stone was kept at Hogwarts. When everyone thought that I was lying about someone trying to take it, my friends and I ended up facing the challenges placed to guard the stone. The challenges were a Cerberus, devil's snare, flying keys, a life size wizard's chess board, an unconscious troll, a Potions riddle that if you got wrong could kill you, and finally a DADA teacher who had the dark lord on the back of his head."
"Second year, a house elf tried to stop me from going back to Hogwarts. To get to school I had to borrow a friend's car that could fly just to get to Hogwarts. Unfortunately, we ended up landing in the Whomping Willow. We had a DADA teacher who was a complete fraud. After falling off my broom during a quidditch match, the dumb DADA teacher made the bones in my arm vanish. It was really painful growing them back. Lockhart tried to bring back the dueling club, and I did have fun making Draco look stupid during our duel, but I ended up letting the school know I am a parselmouth, which lead to everyone thinking I was the Heir of Slytherin. All the while, a friend's sister slipped further and further under the control of a dark artifact. In the end, I had to fight a sixty-foot basilisk, which I killed with Gryffindor's sword, all to save said friend's little sister. I almost died because the basilisk bit me, but thankfully, Fawkes saved me with its tears. Oh, yeah, I had to fight the shade of the psychopathic Dark Lord from first year. I did find out that the psycho Dark Lord is a half-blood like I am though."
"Third year, I dealt with dementors being stationed at Hogwarts because Sirius Black had escaped. The DADA teacher, Professor Lupin, was one of best we have ever had. Professor Lupin taught me the Patronus Charm because the dementors really affected me badly. I also found out why the dementors affect me so badly. It is because of what has happened in my past, I am kind of a delicacy for the Dementors. The biggest thing I dealt with in third year was when I found out that the man who everyone thought told said Dark Lord where my mom and dad were hiding was not the person who everyone thought. Instead of being sent to Azkaban, like an innocent man was, the person who betrayed my family was granted a posthumous Order of Merlin! Somewhere in all that mess, I ended up facing one hundred Dementors and lived."
"Fourth year, we had the damned Tri-Wizard Tournament. Almost everyone hated me most of the year. Well except Fleur, she and I became friends after I saved her little sister in the second task. That kind of jumpstarted our relationship, and she ended up being the first girl ever to snog me. It was the only brilliant part of the year! Year ended up going downhill from there. I watched Cedric die and the dark lord used my blood to come back to life."
"Fifth year, can be summed up into one thing: Professor Umbridge, the Minster of Magic's appointed High Inquisitor."
Once Harry had finished his tale, he noticed the different reactions from the Greengrass family. Daphne had a look mixed between amusement and horror. Her mother looked horrified, and her father was laughing for some reason.
Once Nickolas regained himself, he smiled at Harry. "Enjoy the broom closet with Fleur did we"? he said and yelped as he was hit with two stinging hexes, one from Daphne the other from his wife.
"Nah, she invited me to her room." Harry said in a matter a fact tone but yelped in pain and rubbed his arm when Daphne hit him with a stinging.
Daphne smiled sweetly at Harry who smiled right back at her. Feeling brave or foolhardy, he wasn't sure, Harry decided it was time to do something kind of insane, but that could be totally worth it. He reached under the table and moved his hand up Daphne's smooth leg until he got to her panties. The smooth flesh gave way to the feelings of cotton on his hand. Daphne had turned bright red and smacked Harry's arm.
Daphne's mother gave her father a knowing look and he smiled at her. Once they had finished breakfast, Daphne smiled. "Come with me Harry," she said and dragged him out of the room. Harry smiled as he felt Daphne's hands. They were soft. She led him into the Greengrass Library where she stopped in front of a case full of wands. Her mother and father had come up behind them smiling as Daphne opened the case. "Go ahead Harry see if you like any." she said.
Harry moved his hand over the wands until he stopped at one near the end. He picked it up and it felt warm in his hand. It was a black wood and was a little shorter then his maybe, about 12 and a half inches. He pointed it out, "Expecto Patronum!" he said. A stag erupted from the wand and moved around the room then walked to him and bowed its head to Harry before it vanished. Daphne looked shocked and her mother and father's mouths hung open.
"Harry, I am impressed. You really are a powerful young man. May I ask what your happy memory was?" Nickolas asks.
Harry turned a little red and mumbled something. "We didn't hear you." Cassy said with a knowing look. Harry turned even redder.
"Not really a memory, a thought of kissing Daphne." he said louder turning bright red. Daphne was also bright red at that, she then turned Harry's head to face her and leaned in placing her lips on his. Harry wrapped his arms around her and when they parted, they both had huge blushes.
"There, it's now a memory." she said smiling.
Harry could not believe it; he just kissed the hottest girl in his year. He may have not looked at girls like Ron did but he still found girls nice to look at and he always liked to look at the Daphne when she was not looking and he looked over at Cassy and Nickolas who both had grins on their faces. "Harry, our daughter has had a crush on you for what four years now. Something to do with you being the only boy who didn't ogle all over her body "she said. Harry looked over at Daphne who smiled at him and nodded her head.
"But why me Daphne, you could have so many other guys and why didn't you ever come talk to me?" he asked tilting his head a little.
Daphne rolled her eyes at him and shrugged. "One word for you Harry, Ronald Weasley " she said and Harry let out a sigh. Ron would be fuming if he knew he had kissed a Slytherin. "I see no point to why Slytherin and Gryffindor hate each other so much. It's stupid really, mind you I hate Draco and everyone who hangs out with him but you never did from what I could tell." Harry said and got another kiss by Daphne.
"I agree with you. Now we just need to get rid of the stupidity," she said with a smile.
Harry kissed Daphne and then smiled at her. "So does this mean you're my girlfriend now?" he asked. Daphne raised an eyebrow at him and gave him a look of no shit Sherlock. "We will let you two have the day to yourselves then tomorrow we will take you to Gringotts to claim your inheritance Harry." Cassy said she then pulled her husband away. As they walked away Nickolas looked over his shoulder, "Oh and just so you know that wand you have now Harry is the same wand that belonged to Daphne's grandfather. Ironic that you have it when she has her grandmother's wand." he said and walked away with Cassy, leaving Harry's mouth open. Daphne took Harry to a couch and sat down with him where they talked to each other long into the day.
