"No."
"Cmon Raven, everyone else is playing."
"I don't know if you remember or not, birdbrain, but the last time I played someone almost got seriously injured."
"You're exaggerating." Robin waved his hands in the air, as if nearly impaling someone with a badminton racket was an everyday occurrence.
"I mean it. Do you want me to make Cyborg lose another eye?"
"Hey I heard that!"
"Please Raven, what's the worst that could happen?"
"I already told you, now move, I can't concentrate on my book with you nagging me like this. I'm going to my room."
"I'm afraid I can't let you do that, Raven."
"Oh come on, stop with the dramatics, without me you have even numbers, there's no need for this. Now let me pass."
"Dude, my arm is broken."
"Then turn into an octopus and you'll have seven new ones, it's not my problem."
"You are not being the good sport, friend Raven."
"I'm sorry, but do you really have nothing better to do with your time than to hit a piece of plastic back and forth?"
"NO," the rest of the team chorused.
"Your loss." Raven turned her back on them, but Robin's voice stopped her.
"If you win, I'll let you skip team building exercises for the rest of the month."
"You're joking."
"Would I joke about something as serious as this?" Raven sighed and looked around at her teammates.
"And if I lose?"
"Then you...you have to do everyone's laundry, and come to team building exercises. On time."
"Fine. One game. But you're going down, boy blunder."
"Ooh it is on!"
"I am not playing with Beast Boy. He always cheats!"
"Fine," Beast Boy pouted.
"But I call referee!" He scampered off the court.
"Alright, it's Raven and Cyborg against me and Star."
"That's not exactly—"
"Scared, Raven?" Robin flashed her a grin.
"For you guys, yeah."
Cyborg reaches over to give her a high five.
"Booyah baby, let's show them who's boss."
"We'll see about that," Robin smirked.
.~.
"Bottom of the last quarter and things are heating up— although I must say, things aren't looking so hot for Raven and Cyborg right-"
"Can it, shrimp head, or else."
"Hey, you can't mess with the referee. Robin, tell her she's not allowed to."
"Raven, stop threatening the ref. That's not gonna magically let you win."
"No one is going to let me do anything." Raven's eyes started to glow.
"Uh oh."
"Stay out of this, Beast Boy."
It was a tense few last minutes, with each team trading off possession of the ball, point after poling, until finally-
"And there you have it folks, we have the winners of the first annual Teen Titans volleyball tournament-"
"Really."
"Oh come on Raven, you won."
"Yeah, but there's no way in hell this is annual." She said, pointing an accusing finger at Beast Boy.
"You guys said this was a one time thing."
Robin slung his arm around her shoulder.
"We'll see about that. What do you say I treat the team to pizza, to celebrate."
"Hmm, I suppose that would be acceptable." While Raven's voice sounded as monotone as ever, she couldn't hide the smile spreading on her face. The team walked off into the sunset, ready for their next great pizza adventure.
