Inheritance series
Sparks flew around as flames engulfed straw as a pair of green eyes stared as flames engulfed her life. A piecing roar echoed through the burning mountain town. The cry of a dragon was deafening, and above all heart stopping. "Amira!" A young boy screamed in terror as a black mass was surging toward her from the sky. The dragon had spotted her. The scales gleamed with brilliant flashes of gold, amber, and crimson. "David!" The black scales consumed her as she was lifted skyward. "AAAAAHHHGGG!" Dark talons slit her open flesh as her pale dress fluttered irritated by the wind. Her earth brown hair twisted as she was lifted upward. Suddenly the talons released her sending the young fifteen year-old plummeting to the course mountain ground. Spinning out of control Amira's thoughts grew foggy and disoriented. I am going to die…She thought desperately. Her thoughts ceased as she readily accepted her certain death. Still falling she aligned herself head first speeding like an arrow, to her death. Rather it be quick…She thought as the air swirled around her happily accepting the girl. She soon closed in. Talons wrapped around her once more. Her eyes shot open as a sparkling blue dragon had caught her and she was ripped back into the air in a nauseating pattern. Then she noticed the saddle. A man with shining gold hair grinned at her. Eragon had returned. The black dragon doubled back for the village and Eragon yelled over the whirling wind. "Hold on tight! We are going to engage it!" Suddenly the sapphire dragon, Saphira, arced down like a bullet and collided with the larger ebony dragon. Roars echoed around the walls of the valley and probably echoed all the way to Carvahall. The dragons smashed into the clock tower sending rubble flying around Amira and everything lowed. Bricks flying inches from her ivory face. Dust grabbing for her eyes. Then it sped ahead as the dragons tumbled on the ground. Saphira strategically kept Amira close until the began to slow as the ground ate into them. The claws released Amira and she rolled along the dragons but stopped a considerable distance away. "Eragon!" She screamed in terror as the blond spot disappeared as the dragons tussled and shot fiery bullets. Suddenly hands closed around her. Wavey brown hair caught the corner of her eye. "David!" She cried as she buried her head into his chest and shook from fear. "Don't worry you'll never leave my arms again." His voice shook from the pain of almost losing her. David was going to be her husband soon. Their wedding had already been arranged from birth, but Amira could always see that he would have been the only one she could tolerate. The other men where blunt, arrogant, and down right rude; but David was different somehow. He picked her up easily and ran from the deadly battle carring away his betrothed from the harm the dragons would most certainly cause. Soon he had carried her into the mines. Deep in the earth they listened to the frantic antics of the two powerful dragon that where raging war in their home town. Amira shook as painful images of herself falling blanketed her vision. David instictvly held her close in the dark cold cave.
