Toph lied down on the hospital bed, her side bleeding from where an arrow had hit her. Terin sat in a chair right beside her holding her tightly but at the same time gently. Her hand was cold as ice while her skin was paler than it usually was.

Just then someone stepped into the hospital room. "Terin," the figure said softly, "she's gone."

"No she's not Sokka." Terin said as he looked at him. "She's just sleeping, it's just a scratch. It's nothing she can't handle. After all she is the world's greatest earthbender." Terin turned his head back to Toph. "She'll wake up. Any day now.

Weeks later

A dark-skinned teen with blue eyes walked into The Earth Kingdom's National Mental Institution. The teen stepped up to the counter to speak the female clerk. I'm here to see Terin Akirai." The teen told her. The clerk nodded and called for a orderly to escort him to the patient's room.

After about a minute of walking they finally arrived at room 1038. The orderly took out his keys and rummaged through them. After a few seconds He found the right key and opened up the door. Inside the room were padded walls and floors with a figure in the corner with his head in his knees. The teen took a few steps inside when the boy in the corner looked up and smiled.

"Hey Sokka!" The boy said with a bit of insanity in his voice.

"Hey Terin." Sokka said as he smiled back.

"Did Toph wake up yet?!" Terin asked enthusiastically.

Sokka's smile turned to a frown, "No," he calmly responded. "not yet."

Terin's eager attitude faded but he still smiled. "It's okay," he said acceptingly, "She'll wake up. Any day now."

Sokka sighed and took out a picture and placed it on the ground. "Here," he said, "the doctor's said I could let have it." Terin gazed at the picture Sokka gave him, it was a picture of Toph laughing happily.

Terin smiled "Thank you Sokka, you're a good friend."

Sokka gave him a fake smile, "Thanks, you are too." He turned around to leave when Terin shouted. "Hey, be sure to come get me the second she wakes up okay."

Sokka frowned "Sure thing, Terin. Sure thing."

Terin grinned, "You'd better. Or else I'll pound into next tomorrow."

"Don't worry, I will."

"Okay then, see ya later then"

"Yeah see ya later." Sokka said as he left the room.

The orderly closed the door and escorted Sokka back to the lobby.

"Poor kid." he said.

"Yeah, hopefully he'll come to accept his friend's death. Hopefully that will happen.

Any day now."

Wow, if I could feel sadness I would be crying right now. But you see when I was 2 I hit my head on a trampoline which sent a shock throughout my nervous system rendering the part of my brain that enables sadness useless. Please R&R.
