Hello everyone!

It's been quite some time since I've uploaded to my account!

I wrote this quick little one-shot as a drabble for my Clementine roleplaying blog on Tumblr on Christmas Eve, and I decided I'd upload it here too, just for the heck of it.

It's really short, but I hope you enjoy!

She'd made it.

She'd finally made it.

It had taken a very, very long time, and there were plenty of moments where she'd gotten lost along the way, but Clementine had finally managed to venture through the chilly Georgian weather back to the familiar town. The town where she had once lived.

The little girl smiled to herself. "If I counted right… It should be Christmas Eve! I-I made it! I actually made it!" She whispered excitedly, careful not to speak too loudly. While the streets seemed to be quiet, peaceful even, from the familiar moan and groan of the walker humbug, she didn't trust this stillness. Not one little bit. Life had since taught Clementine better than that.

She beamed happily, radiance glowing off of her like a light. It was an unfamiliar feeling, but not an unwelcome one, as she navigated through the familiar streets, a small skip to her step. She could hardly wait to see her old neighbourhood, her house. And moments later, her wish was granted.

She dashed eagerly up the steps of the porch at the back of her house, knowing the door was still unlocked from when she had last been here with Lee.

Lee…

She shook her head. No. She wouldn't think about him. Not right now at least. She needed to keep focused, in case a threat had managed to enter her home while she was gone.

Once she slipped through the sliding glass doors, she quietly tip-toed around the house, making sure the coast was clear. When she deemed the house safe, she could not contain another glowing smile as she eagerly ran down to the basement, pulling up her family's old Christmas decorations. She danced around the house, putting up decorations here and there. She even managed to put up the family's old fake evergreen, filling it up with as many ornaments as she could find.

Feeling good about what she had done, she surveyed the area, nodding in approval when she deemed it a job well done.

She quickly found her family's last portrait together, picking it up and cuddling it close to her chest as she moved to sit down on the family sofa, never letting it go.

"Merry Christmas, Mom… Dad…" She whispered, a single tear sliding down her cheek as she thought about all the Christmases she had celebrated before in the past with her parents… Time she'd taken for granted, assuming they would last forever. "… Merry Christmas… Lee… Duck… Ben… Kenny… Katjaa… Omid… Christa…" She smiled through her tears, thinking of the smiling faces of her lost survivors through the holidays. They'd be so happy to put together something like this, just for her and Duck. She just knew it.

She took a deep breath, wiping the tears away from her amber tinted eyes with one hand, before holding the portrait out before her. "Well… At least Santa will still know where to find me this Christmas…" She told the photograph quietly, giving it one last tight squeeze before the little girl drifted off into sleep, the hope of Santa Claus's arrival shining bright in her mind.
