She pulled the sweater over her head, somewhat frustrated with how she always had to pull her hair out of the collar when done. After a few good years of wearing her sweaters and occasionally going into Sweater Town, Mabel had gotten used to how her hair and her pullovers didn't really see eye to eye.

She's even considered getting a haircut although she knows she'd never go through with it. Still, the thought, the option comforted her.
Mabel looked at herself in the mirror. The older she gets the less sweaters she finds in her silly style. Dipper once suggested that she make her own sweaters, saying that sewing and knitting were even similar to arts n crafts.
Mabel considers the option while brushing her hair. She's halfway done with her fifth stroke when she hears a knock on her door.
She's hesitant for a second, suspecting one of Gleeful's schemes to kidnap her.
It turns out it's Wendy instead and she's pleasantly surprised.

They small talk mostly and Mabel brings up the haircut option. She doesn't expect Wendy to act as animated as a result.

"You can't cut your hair! That's cr-" Wendy stops herself and turns away to the side of the room.
Mabel's thoroughly confused now. She tries to figure out the reason Wendy reacted in such a way but nothing comes to mind.

"Why don't you want me to get a haircut?" She wrinkles her brow up and asks the even more important question. The question that Wendy doesn't want to give the answer to.

"Why'd you come up here? Dipper isn't here, he's with Norman in Massachusetts. You don't work for Grun-" It's Mabel's turn to stop now. She holds her hands up to defend herself. "I'm sorry that was um rude." She steps forward and Wendy steps back.
Mabel is way past confused now. "What's with you? You're acting so weird."

Wendy's face is a bright pink and she takes off her hat. Suddenly the room gets hotter and the tension is thicker than Mabel's skull.
Mabel doesn't even notice though. She's totally unfazed and Wendy has to remember that Mabel isn't intentionally doing this to her.

Mabel isn't trying to drive her crazy.

Wendy steps toward Mabel and tightens the hold on her hat.

"I uh...I wanted to see you." Wendy wants to slap herself. She wants to hide under a rock or in a tree or be anywhere than in front of the very cause for everything she's gone through since last summer.

Mabel smiles at her and Wendy could just die. That smile is so stupid and perfect and she loves it.
She loves Mabel and she'll never say it out loud.

Mabel holds out her arms, an invitation for a hug.

Wendy can only walk into it. She makes it hr mission to remember everything about Mabel in that moment.

When did Mabel get taller than her?
"Are you ok?" Mabel pushes away, staring at Wendy like the world's peachy.

Wendy knows that's a loaded question. She can't answer it yet.

this time i wrote a kind of one-sided one where Wendy's feeling insecure about her budding feelings for everyone's favorite character.
Let it be known that i don't really ship this pairing. I just noticed there weren't a lot of other fics on here for them and it was about time i contributed to the fandom
