I sat on the Vineyard porch, deftly eating grapes and spitting out the seeds, wich
I cant stand. The new guy who'd taken over the abandoned ranch walked by. I'd heard about him,
of course, but I'd never seen him. I think his name was Jack. He turned to face me, then he
smiled and waved. I waved back, and he started to walk my way. Unconsciously, I straightened
my vest and hastily ran a hand through my hair.
"No, its okay. I think you look beautiful the way you are" He blurted out, then blushed and looked at his toes, mumbling.
"Thanks" I sighed. He was kind of cute himself.
"Umm. . .here." He murmured, pulling a Moondrop flower out of his pocket, he held it out to me
"Thanks" I repeated mechanically, and tucked the flower into my hair. Several akward moment of
silence passed, then the outside me started to show again
"Well?! Don't you own a farm or something?! Don't you have anything better to do that sit around and watch me sit here?! I know I do!" I jumped up off the porch and stormed away, leaving a dumbfounded Jack watching me leave.
After I cooled off, I realized what a mistake I'd made. Practically kicking myself,
I made my way over to my best friend's, Ann, house. As we both sat in together in one chair,
like we did when we were little, I explained what happened between me and Jack
"I cant believe I actualy did that! After we was so nice to me!" I finished up
"Well, if he really likes you, you'll have to try harder than that to scare him away" Ann said
with a wink. That's what I liked about Ann. She always looked on the positive side, even at the worst of times. I shifted uncomfortably in the chair.
"Heh, not as easy as it was 10 years ago, was it?" I joked.
"Remember that time we tried to fit, you, me, Elli, Popuri and Maria in one chair,
and it collapsed? And we added up all our weights, and we only weighed as much as. . .Rick
probably, and we couldn't figure out how it broke?" Ann laughed
"Yeah" I agreed and even allowed myself a small smile. . .
