Corus High
Chapter 1
" This is the worst day of my life", Alanna mumbled to herself as she walked through her high school. It was a prep school in the Upper East Side of Manhattan and she felt weird because she wasn't wearing all the fancy brand name clothing that her fellow classmates were wearing. Instead she was wearing a white button down shirt, which was too big, and a skirt that went down to her knees. She looked like a mess and if you looked like a mess in this school you ruined your reputation.
"Why do I even go to this school," Alanna asked herself. Then she remembered her life story and sighed.
Alanna Trebond was just an ordinary at the age of 8 when her mother died. When she died, Alanna never recovered. She was completely crazy and used to cry every night for hours on end. No one knew how to help her so they just let her go on with her crying and decided that it was just a stage and she would eventually grow out of it. Her dad, who was a wealthy hedge fund CEO paid for the best shrinks that money could hire but it was no use. They couldn't help her. Her dad was so angry with her that he decided to send her to this prep school and said that unless she shaped up he would kick her out. Because she had nowhere else to go she stuck with the idea. Her dad, though, only looked at her grades so he thought that she was great in school. But if you looked at how she came dressed to school and all the other stuff she wasn't that great. Her dad wouldn't notice that though. He was to busy with his work to even talk to her.
She had a twin brother named Thom. They used to be very close but after she went insane he barely spoke to her. The only times he ever spoke to her were when he needed something from her. This was her lonely existence.
As she walked down the hallway, she saw that no one was even bothering to notice her. They all thought that she was just some sort of loser and that she wasn't deserving of their time. Just when she thought that she might escape, she heard a voice calling out to her.
"Alanna, did you get your outfit today from the shelter also because no one who has any money would wear something as hideous as that." It was Delia Eldorne, to no one's surprise. She and Alanna used to be best friends until Delia outgrew Alanna and started hanging out with the older kids. Once she realized how cool it was to hang out with all the older people, she realized how much of a social outcast she had been when she hung out with Alanna and decided to snub her at every chance she got I order to prove to everyone that she wasn't like that anymore. Delia's boyfriend Ralon Malven had no problem adding on to her remarks. "I don't think you know where you are going today" he said with a snarl, "This is a school not a slum. In the future please dress accordingly." Everyone began to laugh and poke fun of Alanna like usual and she retreated into her normal mode of dealing with this, which was to go into a deserted sports closet in the basement and throw around the balls there.
While running down the stairs to get to the closet, she could feel the stares of everyone in the hallway on her. Who is this weirdo, she knew they all were thinking and why does Delia hate her so much? She knew that because she asked herself the same question about 700 times a day. She missed being friends with Delia and having that constant reassurance that someone was always there for her and listening to what she had to say. And now she had lost it and she had no other friends like that anymore.
All of a sudden while she was sitting there sulking, she heard a voice behind her saying "Alanna, are you ok?"
