She recognised the noise as soon as she heard it. The whizzing and whirring of the familiar object. At first she thought her hearing was playing her up, or she just dozed off, but she had to find out for sure. As she stood up to investigate the noise stopped. Her heart sinking she sighed and tutted at herself for letting her get her hopes up that he would of returned for her.
She returned to her chair and picked up her notepad, she scribbled away at the innocent lines as she threw her frustration out. She wondered how he could forget a day like this; it didn't just mattered to her it mattered to him as well, if only he had remembered.

"Maybe he did remember" she whispered, wiping away her glistening tears "maybe I didn't hear the door knock and he is waiting outside for me right now".
Throwing the notepad and pen on the floor she leapt out of her chair and ran to the door, "don't be disappointed now you know what he is like" and with a click from the lock the door was unlocked.
"one...two...three" the door flew open and disappointment flooded her body once more, all she saw was her old overgrown garden.
She collapsed to her knees releasing a silent scream, as her heart filled with sorrow.
