The room was dark, and the T.V cast strange shadows against the walls, dancing to the quiet music that played on MTV. Blaine was sitting on the couch, his clothes a mess, and his hair barely gelled. In his arms, he held a bundle close to his chest. He began to hum, causing the bundle to stir.

As it began to move, the pale face of Kurt became visible, and Blaine bent over to kiss him on the cheek. "Kurt! I'm glad to see you're awake." He smiled, using his fingers to trace Kurt's face. "Do you want something to eat? You should try and get your strength up. We have soup, or if you want a sandwich, we've got-"

Kurt cut him off.

"Blaine… I don't want to eat. I just want you." Blaine sighed, taking note how darker the circles under Kurt's eyes have gotten. As he was about to help Kurt sit up, he started talking again, weak.

"Blaine… I feel as if I'm not long for here. I just want you, only you."

Shifting uncomfortably, Blaine clutched his lover tighter. "Kurt, don't say that. You know the doctors said your medicine is working, and-"

"Blaine, stop it! We both know I wouldn't last long… It's ruined my immune system." As if to prove a point, Kurt began to cough profusely. "Blaine, can you call Rachel? I want to say goodbye to her."

With tears in his eyes, Blaine pulled his phone out of his pocket, with Rachel's number on speed dial. The phone rang once. Twice.

"Hello?" Said a perky voice on the line. "Rachel…" Blaine said. "I think Kurt's… please come over. Kurt says he wants to tell you goodbye." There was a long silence, and then a quick reply.

Blaine hung up the phone and wrapped his arms around Kurt. "Hold onto me," Kurt said.

"I want you to know, I love you and I'm not afraid. Do you hear me?" Blaine didn't answer, but he began to cry. "Blaine, I know you can hear me. I can taste it in your tears."

Blaine started gasping, trying to catch his breath, and began to hug Kurt tighter, holding his head up to the level of his own face.

Kurt took his hand and ran it over Blaine's lips. "Kiss me love, for I fear this will be our finale one. I'm afraid Rachel won't make it."

"Kurt! You'll live, I swear it to God!"

"Blaine…" Kurt coughed again. "Please." Blaine complied, bringing Kurt's lips to his own.

He savored the feeling, the taste of his lover's warmth pressing against his. And to make it better, he felt Kurt smile. Perhaps everything would be well.

But it didn't last long until Blaine felt a small exhale of warm breath against his lips, and Kurt's head fell backward.

"Kurt…" Blaine held his head, shaking it slightly. "Oh God no. Kurt, Kurt. Kurt!" Blaine lifted his lover into his arms, holding him close. "Kurt!" He carried him across the room to the front door, where he struggled to open it.

At the end of the small walkway, Rachel stood, phone in hand. She was frozen for a moment, but almost immediately, she ran forward, tears in her own eyes. She had dialed nine-one-one, and gave them the address. When her one task was complete, she dropped everything in her hands and helped Blaine settle Kurt's body onto the soft grass.

Both Rachel and Blaine held onto Kurt's hands, crying, while Blaine was screaming, "Kurt! Come back! Don't leave me alone."

When at last the ambulance arrived, Rachel held Blaine in her arms, crying softly into his neck.

"Rachel."

"Yes?" She replied, wiping the ruined mascara off her face.

"He… used his last breath on me. For a kiss." Rachel smiled. "Of course Blaine. He loved you."

Blaine sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Rachel… I-I don't think I could get over him."

"You will. Because Kurt-" Rachel took her hand, and set it tenderly on Blaine's chest. "Is always in your heart. My heart. Every single one of us."

Blaine only nodded, before going into hysterics again. Rachel pulled him into an embrace. The last thing she heard before Blaine fell asleep in her arms was, "Kurt, I love you."
