Remember the Titans

A Random Greek Demigod's POV

Being a young Greek demigod like me, it's hard to find a proper role model to look up to. Not all of us get along with our mortal parents. The famous Percy Jackson did, but look at his friends. Annabeth and her dad disagreed all the time, and so did Thalia and her mom. And Nico's mother, whom Nico loved very much, ended up dead. It seems to be that way more often than not. Either you disagree with your mortal parent, or you love them a lot. And if you love them a lot, they usually end up dead.

Some demigods have step-parents. These people aren't always mean. In fact, a majority of the time, step-parents are actually pretty nice and helpful. I guess it's just kind of hard to look up to the person who replaced your other actual parent.

Then there's your godly parent. Now, I know it sounds cool having a god for a parent and everything, but it almost never is. Most of the time, the gods don't even seem to know you exist, and when they finally acknowledge you, it's because they need your help. That or you've done something to anger them. Either way, you might as well kiss your life goodbye because you probably won't see it again. I don't think they want you to die when they ask you for your help. I guess being a god, you kind of forget the meaning of fatal.

Of course, Chiron the activities director at Camp Half-Blood is a great guy. He's wise and totally understands children because of years of experience. Many kids think of him as their second father and some of us do look up to him, but probably not as many as you'd expect. I guess it's kind of hard to look up to someone when you know they've got the rear end of a horse.

While most demigods give up and try to survive without a road map, I looked a little further. I'm speaking Mt. Tam far. I looked over at the titans when I wanted a role model. I don't understand why most demigods never tried looking at their good side. Maybe it's because they spent so much energy trying to get rid of the titans, that they never really tried to look at their good side. In a way, the titans were a lot greater than the gods, and one quality made them a lot more inspiring. Teamwork. The Greek gods argue over everything, it seems. Not the titans. Sure the titans disagreed every now and then, but they didn't let it get in their way. Because while the Greek gods split up and turned against each other, the titans fought side-by-side. They stood together as one.
