Losing a Loved One

It had been almost a year since the Winchesters had teamed up with a young brunette named Teresa. She joined them after her brother was killed by a demon. The thing is Sam had fallen deeply in love with her. He loved her smile, her laughter and most of all he loved her bright blue eyes. But lately her smile had disappeared, she rarely laughed and her blue eyes had faded a little. Sam was starting to get worried about his girl. So one night he walked out of the motel room they shared and saw Teresa sitting on the hood of the Impala, her back up against the front Windshield. As Sam walked closer he noticed that she had tears rolling down her cheeks as she held her knees close to her chest.

"Baby what's wrong?" Sam asked softly as he hoped up next to her.

Teresa jumped slightly at the sudden presence next to her. When she saw it was Sam, she quickly started to wipe away the tears.

"Oh . . . Uh . . . Nothing. Just got something in my eye." She states not looking at him.

Sam reached over and moved a piece of hair out of her face.

"The hell you are. I think I know you well enough to know when you're lying to me. Now tell me what's wrong?" Sam asked again, this time wrapping his arm around her and pulling her close.

Teresa leaned her head on his shoulder and let the tears fall again.

"It's just . . . I-I miss him . . . so much." Teresa sobbed, closing her eyes.

"Miss who, sweetie?" Sam continued to ask as he squeezed her shoulder slightly.

"D-Derek. I m-miss my brother." Teresa cried as the tears took over.

Sam finally realized why she had been acting strange the last few days. It had been almost a year to the day since her brother's death. Sam pulled Teresa into a hug and let her cry into his shoulder. She wrapped her arms around his waist, never wanting to let him go.

"It's just s-sometimes I t-think if . . . If I had c-caught on s-sooner . . . Or k-knew what I know n-now . . . Than maybe I-I could have s-saved him . . ." Teresa sobbed, her heart breaking at the thought.

"I know, baby, I know. If anyone understands what you're going through, it's me." Sam said softly, rubbing her back.

"W-what?" Teresa asked moving her head so she could look at him.

"After my dad died, I kept thinking if I had gotten back to his room just a couple minutes sooner I could have stopped the demon, I could saved him. I blamed myself for his death. Even though deep I knew it wasn't my fault." Sam informed her, holding back the tears that were threatening to appear in his own green eyes.

"Sam . . ." Teresa said softly, seeing the hurt in her loves eyes.

"But you can't blame your self. If anything, it's my fault Derek's dead. If I hadn't let Lucifer free the demons never would have come after you. Then I remember that if it wasn't for that I never would have met or fallen in love with you. Sure I feel bad that your brother had to die, but you make my life worth living. And I won't change that for the world." Sam informed her, his own tears now appearing in his eyes.

"Oh Sam, I love you too! And don't get me wrong; I'm glad that you and Dean saved me from that demon. I just wish I could have saved Derek and still be with you. But the truth is I won't change the time I've spend with you either." Teresa says cupping his face in hers.

"Good cause I can't imagine where I would be if I didn't have you." Sam said before leaning forward and placing his lips to hers.

After they pulled apart, Teresa snuggled into Sam's side as they laid back and looked up at the stars. Sam was always the happiest when he was sitting on the hood of his brother's baby, while holding his own baby in his arms. He knew that Teresa would always miss her brother, but he's glad that at least she had someone she could count on, him.
