One thing many people didn't know about Ginny was that she loved to climb trees. You see, she only did so when she was completely alone, and to be honest, with as many friends as she had, there really wasn't much time to be alone. She did enjoy solitude occasionally, though, and when she found solitude, she often also took time to find Her Tree.
The thing Ginny loved most about trees was that she could be hidden in them, but she could see almost everything from her place high in the branches. Her tree was in the Forbidden Forest a little ways, but she could still see the forest's edge through the trees when she stood at its trunk. When she climbed to the top of her tree she could see as all the way past Hogsmeade and to the mountains beyond the town. Often Ginny would bring a good book with her to her tree so as to sit in it (the tree, not the book) and read for a while, but just as often she would bring nothing, and only think. When she grew tired of thinking, she would merely be.
During one of these times when Ginny was only concerned with being, she heard a small sigh to the right of her. She opened her eyes to find Luna lying on a sturdy branch with her hands behind her head and her eyes closed. Ginny wondered how Luna had gotten up there without her hearing, but considered that there were many more mysterious things about the girl to worry about and decided not to press the point.
Ginny closed her eyes and said in a quiet voice, "Hello, Luna."
Luna smiled briefly before answering. "Hello, Ginny. I don't mean to be rude, but I was really enjoying the moment. It's nice, simply being here. Do you mind if we don't speak?"
Ginny grinned as soft light penetrated the thick leaves above her head, landing gently on her face. "Not at all, Luna. Not at all."
