A/N: My first Harry Potter fanfic :) Ah, I'm in the Potter daze.
"Amortentia - the most powerful love potion in the world. It has the ability to cause a powerful obsession or infatuation from the drinker. It creates a mother-of-pearl sheen and steam rises from it in characteristic spirals. It has a different aroma to everyone who smells it, reminding each person of the things that they find attractive."
When Professor Slughorn had introduced this dangerous potion to his Potions class, Year 6, Hermione already knew what it was. Of course she knew about it—she read Advanced Potion-Making beforehand.
And when the amortentia's aroma swept across the room and reached Hermione's delicate nose, she was overwhelmed with the pleasant, sweet smells of everything she loved.
"…I can smell freshly mowed grass—"...it reminds her so much of home..."and new parchments—" ...those thin pieces of paper are just waiting to be written on… "and—"….
But Hermione never finished her sentence. Suddenly, her cheeks became rosy and her backside grew hot.
She almost let it slip.
Draak Geur, 1764, Sebastian De Lange, Hermione thought to herself.
Dragon Fragrance – it smelled like the breath of a dragon after it had eaten a bush of roses. The smell was sweet and delicious, and it had the faint smell of burnt rose petals. Hermione found it absolutely captivating. Even after a faint smell of the aroma, her knees would grow weak and her mind would become clouded.
The fragrance was too addicting and charming, and Hermione was seriously considering jinxing her own nose so she wouldn't be able to be enchanted by the dangerous (yet lovely) scent.
Hermione knew that if she didn't stop herself from revealing what she found deliciously attractive, she would've unknowingly confessed her deepest and darkest secret. Luckily, she caught the unspoken words and nobody bothered to ask her to continue. Hopefully her classmates assumed it was something not worth knowing.
Hermione mentally snapped at herself and continued listening to Professor Slughorn's lecture.
All the while, the amortenia potion still lingered throughout the room and Hermione was still able to distinctively smell the scents of what allured her most.
Freshly mowed lawns—they smelled just like home.
New parchments—she just couldn't wait to write on them.
And… the tempting smell of Draak Geur—Draco Malfoy's cologne.
