Summary: Deakins watches from his office as Bobby and Alex start to mend their rift after ITWSH. It's Deakins' first person account.

A/N: I figured no one has really written this from Deakins' point of view. I loved the ep, and I felt I had to write something for it. I hope everyone enjoys it.

It has been a long week. That damn case had stressed everyone involved to their limits, especially Goren and Eames. Two of my top detectives had been hit hard. With a sigh, I stand and walk over to my open office door. I usually enjoy watching my squad. I don't today.

I'm drawn to Goren and Eames. There they sit, silently reading some reports of some kind. I'll have to go find out if they have any new information in those reports about their cases in a minute. I can't seem to bring myself to move though, yet.

I should have burned that damn letter. I'm still not sure how the defense got it, but I intend on finding out. It was a low blow. With another sigh, I worry that Goren and Eames aren't ever going to be able to fix the damage that letter has seemingly done. Goren has become increasingly aloof, which I never thought was possible. Eames, for the first time ever, doesn't seem to know how to make it better. If this keeps up, I'm going to have to talk to them. Things can't go on like this. It's going to start affecting their work.

She apparently hasn't been able to find a way to reassure him and get him to trust her again. He has some serious trust and abandonment issues. It hasn't occurred to the Great Bobby Goren that if she hasn't left by now she's not planning to ever leave. They've had something special, and it kills me to watch it seemingly disintegrate in front of me. I can only imagine how they're feeling.

Taking a sip of my coffee, I notice it. He looks up at her. He's figured something out. Even I know how to decipher that look on Bobby Goren's face.

She looks up at him and takes report he's handing her. She nods, and he gestures wildly, obviously explaining something, and I can't help but smile. There is something in his eye, something that hasn't been there pretty much all week. I nod. The ice is thinning. Maybe they'll be OK. With another sigh, I head over to their desks to find out what the brilliant Detective Goren has found. I have hope now. Things between them will get back to normal, with just a little more time.
