"Help Me Remember"
Song fiction, one shot, m/m relationship, and slash. Paring: Jeff Hardy/John Cena
A/N: Don't own, don't sue. Just for fun, read & review!
I know that you're leavin'
As soon as the sun
Comes through the window
There's no talkin' it over
The damage is done
There's just too much hurt
Too much to forgive
Oh, but we both know
We weren't always like this
Jeff's POV
I was sitting on the couch watching TV. We had another fight, so he packed his stuff and was moving back to Massachusetts, without saying another word; he got the last of his things. He's gone, I thought. Once the door slammed shut, I broke down. My mind reeling with a gazillion thoughts, but I knew it was over, or so I thought.
Help me remember
The way it used to be
When nothin' else mattered
'Cause you were lovin' me
Just for the night, one last time
One more good memory
That's what I wanna see
Oh, help me remember
John's POV
Why did he have to be so damned stubborn?! If he would've just listened to me, none of this would've happened and we wouldn't be in this situation right now! I ranted in my head. I slammed my fist against the steering wheel as angry tears streamed down my face. I stopped the car along the side of the road until I got my bearings; in the meantime, I cranked up the stereo just as "Help Me Remember" by Rascal Flatts started to play.
Those days that were so good
Those nights that we held
Held on forever
When we weren't pretenders
We were as real as we felt
Oh, I don't want to fight anymore
Don't want the last thing I hear tonight
To be a slammin' door
Baby, let it be like before
I hoped that Jeff was listening to this song. Maybe there still was a chance, I thought. So I went to the nearest Wal-Mart and picked out a beautiful bouquet of pink roses. Jeff's favorites, I thought, I paid for the flowers and drove back to his house.
This could be the last time
I look in your eyes
Jeff's POV
I heard a knock at the door, so I turned off the TV and opened the door. I stared at my lover in shock, flowers in his hand and a smile on his face. "May I come in?" I let him in and we started over again.
Help me remember
The way that we used to be
When nothin' else mattered
'Cause you were lovin me
Oh, help me remember
Oh, help me, help me
Oh, oh, oh, oh --
