There was a slight creak as the door to the cellar opened. A short figure, presumably a Waddle Dee walked in. The figure walked down the stairs into the darkness. Suddenly there was a scream as the door slammed shut and the lights turned on. Other than a chest of cards and an old anchor, there was nothing in the room. Or so it seemed. Sounds of footsteps could be heard... tap tap tap tap... tap tap tap tap... Then they stopped. Nothing happened for a minute, and then the door creaked open. Someone was walking in. The lights suddenly snapped off, and the figure of a Waddle Dee could be seen at the top of the stairs and at the bottom.

"Who's there?" asked the Waddle Dee that had entered.

There was no reply. After a click, the lights flicked on again. The creature, what ever it was that had entered first, had vanished. The anchor at the bottom of the stairs, at closer examination, had a small keyhole in it. The key was later found in the chest of cards, hidden in the Queen of Spades. When unlocked, the anchor pulled open to reveal an entire secret passage in the staircase. At the end of the dark passage, a lone figure could be seen huddled under a blanket, which looked dead, though it was hard to tell because it could only be seen sometimes.

Only when the lights were off.
